I’m delirious. His every touch is beyond good. My mind instantly goes to wanting his cock. Wanting to experience what it can do for me. I’ve heard the girls who work for me giggle about the guys they escort. The talented ones have them fighting for who gets the call.

“My name is Luca, not God,” he says, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. I’m thrown back into the present and realize I willingly allowed him to eat my pussy. Something no other man has ever done before.

“You ruined my wedding dress,” I stand up for myself.

“You will be wearing whatever I tell you to.”

I curse under my breath, and he grabs hold of my chin with his thumb and forefinger. “Such ugly words shouldn’t come out of such a pretty mouth.”

He then storms out of the room the same way he came in, ten times angrier than before, leaving me confused.

Chapter 14

Luca

Burstingoutofmybedroom, I try to grasp some composure for myself. My thumb brushes across my lower lip, marveling at the knowledge that her pussy was on my face. My tongue darts out, tasting her lingering flavor on my lips.

Going down the stairs toward the now vacant kitchen, I confront the women I sent to help her. “You are not to be her friend. You are not to talk to her unless you have to!” I yell at them.

They keep nodding, saying, “Yes, boss.” They dare not move, frightened of my outburst. No one understands. She is much more dangerous than anyone gives her credit for. I lost my head, seeing her in that dress, losing all control. Now, I imagine one of my men losing control. It could happen so easily. For that reason, I will have to order all the men to stay out of the house.

The talk about killing her, marrying her, having an heir is stuck in my head. It stews and festers like a tornado that refuses to dissipate. I had to see her. What I wasn’t expecting was how goddamn beautiful she would be. She held the whole room’s attention without any effort. The way her eyes lit up with fear and then hardened, trying to be my equal, snaked around me, adding to my fury. I held her thin throat in my hand, watching her eyes widen. She was scared, but I saw trust. A trust I don’t deserve. I’m the last person she should trust. I saw the moment her fear changed into something else, and it was my undoing.

I have to stifle a groan at the memory of how her body responded to me, proving my theory of her infatuation with me.

Immediately, I order all the men out of the house. I walk through it on a mission, exercising the control I have in the family. They can stay outside until I say otherwise. My father says nothing, agreeing with my decision. It should have been this way with my sisters, but everyone is aware of the immediate death sentence if you look at one of them.

I refuse to go back to Aly. I won’t give her that power. I need to leave some distance, prove to myself that she is a pawn in my game. She is here for a purpose, and I can’t deviate from that.

Sittingaroundourlargedining room table, my father and I sit at each end. My mother is to the right of my father, with their oldest daughter, Aria. The three younger ones are on the other side. There are two years between all of us, and I’m the oldest.

“Why is our house so quiet?” my youngest sister, Gia, asks. She gives me that “I’m stirring the pot” smile of hers. She’s eighteen and spoiled. My other sister, Katrina, who’s twenty, giggles before I silence them with a glare.

I’m not good at taking jokes. Being a large Italian family, I’ve never moved out. It’s easier to stay here when I have my separate wing and need to be here all the time. One day, when my father steps down, I will inherit this compound anyway.

“She might as well eat with us. This family can’t keep a secret,” Aria says. I realize Aly’s age is right in the middle of my sisters. I bet they would get along under different circumstances.

“I thought you were marrying her, not keeping her prisoner?” Gia asks, being braver now that this is a family conversation.

“It’s Luca’s decision on what he wishes to do with the girl,” my mother says. It may seem like she’s allowing me to make the decision, but her tone says otherwise. She doesn’t believe Aly should be kept prisoner. It’s like she forgets she is still the enemy until we marry. I have nothing to tie her to me or our family until our vows.

The reason we haven’t been bombed by the Mancinis is because they fear they might be bombing a place she is being held. There will be some sort of retaliation, and we need to be ready for them.

“She’ll join us when I can trust her.”

I swear I hear my sisters humming the childish song about a baby in a baby carriage, irritating me further.

“That’s enough work talk for now,” my father announces as he begins to dig into his meal.

The conversation turns, focusing on what my sisters are up to.

Chapter 15

Aly

SearchingtheroomI’vebeen caged in, I confirm to myself that it’s Luca’s. It has his clothes, the sheets smell like him, and the bathroom holds products with similar scents. I’ve had time to inspect every corner, trying to find signs of who Luca Rossi really is. I don’t mean the person he portrays himself as, but the one he hides. Everyone has a side they try to mask, and I want to learn his. It’s the key to him and the real reason why I’m here.

When I find nothing, I stare at the door, anticipating him walking through at any moment. I stay up until my eyes can no longer hold themselves open, wanting to give him a piece of my mind. He never comes. I see no one. Food is brought to the room by one of the twins from earlier, but this time, she keeps her head down and mouth shut. Even when I try to talk to her.
