I’m so close. His thumb circles my clit once, twice, then disappears. “Deal?” he asks.

At this moment, I would agree to anything. “Sure.”

He pushes down on my clit, and my fingers rake his shoulders as I gasp, trying to keep my volume down. I must not be successful, because his mouth claims mine then, swallowing my orgasm.

Chapter 15

Fin

MaybetellingLunashe’sgoing to be my wife will be easier than I thought. We walk out of the room, and I feel like I’ve just won the prize. I keep sneaking glances at her, but she gives nothing away. My fingers search hers out, but she moves her hand away.

When we enter the main room once again, Romeo is making a toast to his bride to be, Luna’s youngest sister. No one notices us slipping in. Everyone raises their glass. In my case, I raise my hand, since I have nothing in it.

“Luna.” A woman who I don’t know slides up next to her, waving her left hand around. She practically puts her ring finger right in Luna’s eye.

It’s a modest ring. The one I plan to put on her finger will put all these fuckers in their place. I want any man within a hundred-foot radius to notice and realize she’s off limits. I doubt this woman’s man cares if anyone notices she’s taken.

“Congratulations.” Luna gives off her fake smile, the one I know says she doesn’t give a fuck.

“I feel like my life is now complete,” the woman gushes.

Luna tries to take a step away, but then the girl grabs her hand. I cover my chuckle with a cough.

“I wish this for you too. One day, you will get your chance.”

Oh, this girl has done it now.

Luna lifts one brow and steals her hand back. “Becoming someone else’s property should never be an accomplishment. Anyone with their own brain would never want to be silenced. I prefer to live my life how I want. I don’t need a man to claim me to make my life complete.”

The woman has a deep scowl on her face that has been growing since Luna began to tell her off. “What they say about you is right. You’re too manly to ever attract anyone worth it. You may feel like you are happy playing with the boys, but you will never fit in with any of us. The men don’t want you, and neither do the woman. You’re a lonely soul, and I feel sorry for you.”

The girl turns on her heels and walks away. Luna doesn’t show she’s hurt by anything the woman said. I’m already watching to see who the bitch cuddles up to. We will need to have a discussion about the leash he keeps on his property—as Luna would put it.

“She’s a cunt,” I mumble.

Luna rolls her eyes. “I’m used to shit like that. I’ve never let it bother me before. No point in starting now.”

“I think finding the right person to marry isn’t the life sentence you’re making it out to be,” I add my thoughts.

“There’s a reason my family has never forced me to marry. Everyone knows I would rather be dead. Parties like this only solidify how I feel.”

“Think of it as getting to hang with your best friend every day,” I try to argue.

“I don’t have best friends. Just like you don’t work with others.” She levels me with a glare.

“I don’t work with others, because I can’t trust them. I’d trust my wife. I look forward to being married, and I already know it will be sooner rather than later.”

“You’re the biggest hypocrite of them all,” she spews.

I won’t be winning this argument today, so I let it drop.

We stay standing in silence. Luna’s arms are crossed over her chest. She is clearly not enjoying herself.

“I thought you needed out of the house and wanted to be here.” I break the silence once I can’t take it any longer.

“What I want is to finish my contract. My sisters don’t even care I’m here anyway.” She looks to where they are both dancing with their men.

“Do you want to dance?”
