Chantelle couldn’t believe she was hearing this. She had found all the messages, and two of the girls he had slept with had approached her already, telling her the truth about what they had done. Wade hadn’t stopped after the first time. He had kept on going. For three years, he had slept around while Chantelle remained faithful to him.

She felt like she had wasted her time. If she had known that Wade wasn’t going to keep his cock in his pants, she would have kicked him out long ago.

“I’m not going to listen to you trying to put excuses on this, Wade. You cheated on me, and you lied to me. I have never felt more like an idiot than I did when Brittany told me you would be at hers fucking her brains out when I thought you were working late, or that I believed you were playing soccer with your buddies when you were really with Sally. Or was it Tracey? I’m getting mixed up, there are so many names.”

“I never cheated!”

Chantelle tried not to flinch. His temper was something that always made her back down. He was frightening when he was angry.

But she was not backing down this time. This was going to happen, and Wade could shout and rant as much as he wanted. Chantelle was not going to crack and agree to stay.

She had more pride than that.

“I’ve got the evidence you have. And I have heard it from your other girlfriends. You made a mockery of me and our marriage.” She stepped around him. “If you can’t take our marriage seriously, then I’ve got nothing more to say. I’m out of here. Now you can find a dumb blonde who thinks you’re incredible and believes that you really do overtime.”

Wade grabbed her arm. Chantelle yelped as she was spun around, almost slamming back into him. Her husband held onto her tightly, his fury inches from her face, eyes blazing. Chantelle bit back a whimper. She was not going to be scared. She would not be intimidated.

“You are my wife, Chantelle.” Wade snarled into her face. “For better or worse, remember? What’s the point in saying that in our vows when you run away during the latter?”

“What sort of person would I be if I stayed and let you carry on?” Chantelle hissed. “You said you loved me, Wade. Where does it say love also includes fucking other women?”

“That never happened, and you’re a fool for believing it.”

“I’d be a bigger fool if I went back to you now.” Chantelle tried to pull her arm away. “Let me go. You’re hurting me.”

“Not until we talk.” Wade started to tug her inside. “We’re going to discuss this, and you are going to hear me out.”

Discuss. Chantelle had nothing to discuss. She just wanted to be gone.

Why didn’t she take the offer of having a police officer present while she packed up? This could have been avoided.

“Let go of me, Wade.”

“Not until you hear me out.”

“I’m done with that. I’m done with the marriage, and I’m certainly done with you.” Chantelle tugged, but the fingers around her arm just started squeezing. “I am going to make the most of what I’ve got left, and I’m certainly not involving you. This marriage is over.”

Wade growled and yanked her back.

“It’s over when I say it’s over!” He roared into her face. “And you’re mine, Chantelle. You are not walking out on me!”

Chantelle had never seen him like this before. Angry, yes, but not on this level. For a moment, she felt the fear in her chest, threatening to send her into a panic. She needed to get away from him. Now.

If only he would let her go.

“I am not yours.” She said through gritted teeth. “I will not be owned by anyone, especially not you.”

“Are you sure about that?” Wade sniggered. “As if you’re going to find a man who’s willing to put up with you. You’re worthless and pathetic. If you think a man’s going to find that attractive, he’s a bigger idiot than you.”

“Stop it.”

“I asked you to be my wife because you are mine. And you won’t be anything without me.” He lowered his head, whispering into her ear. “You’re going to regret walking out on me, Chantelle. I’ll make sure of that.”

Chantelle froze.

“Did you just threaten me?”

“It wasn’t a threat. It’s a promise.”
