Hey. He was one of the Fallen for a reason. And this Fallen?

One way or another, he was going to stake his claim.

Striding purposely across the casino, he watched as the perky blonde fairy quickly made her escape. The werewolf, on the other hand, stayed where he was.

Good, thought Raze. As powerful as Anthony was, he wasn’t an alpha wolf. In a challenge, Raze would win—and when it came to Becca, he was ready to challenge any potential suitors.

With a quick, careful nod toward Becca, he met the shifter’s golden eyes dead-on. “Anthony. Check in with Cael. I’m sure he needs you to make your rounds.”

“I already did.”

“Do them again.”

“Where, boss?”

“Wherever Becca isn’t.”

Anthony saluted him, a tease in his golden wolf’s eyes. “Gotcha, boss.”

Raze stayed perched next to Becca, waiting for Anthony to leave. Before the wily werewolf had, though, he tapped her on her shoulder. “Hey, Becca?”

She’d been stealing a glance up at Raze before Anthony called her name. When she turned away to answer, Raze let a snarl rip across his face, knowing she wouldn’t see but that Anthony would.

The werewolf ignored Raze completely as Becca said, “Yes?”

“Before I go, I just wanted to see what you were doing tonight. You down for dinner when you get off shift?”

Oh. The werewolf had a death wish, did he?

Damn it. If only he wasn’t one of the best of the security team, Raze might unleash his wings, snatch the big werewolf, fly up to the top of the Twilight Sphere, and drop him down to the Strip below. Anthony would survive, but the time spent regenerating all of his smashed bones should serve as the perfect warning to back off of Becca—

No. That wasn’t fair to his soulmate. Even if she wanted to date Anthony, it wasn’t fair of him to take his frustrations out on the werewolf if only because he had the balls to ask her out first.

But Becca hadn’t said yes. Before she could, Raze found himself answering for her. “Sorry. I’m afraid that won’t be possible. Becca’s not free tonight.”

“Oh. Is that so?”

The furry bastard was pushing him. Too late to realize what Anthony was doing, Raze let him do it.

“Yes. She’s having dinner with me.”

Becca’s head whipped back toward him so quickly, one of her curls escaped its clip. “I am?”

He took her hand, squeezing it gently. “You are.”

She blinked, then gave him one of those heart-stopping smiles. “Then I guess I am.”

Okay, Raze decided when a self-satisfied smirk tugged on Anthony’s lips before he winked over at him.

Maybe he’d give the interloping shifter a fucking raise after all.

* * *

Becca very nearly backed out of going to dinner with Raze.

There were so many reasons why she should kindly turn him down. After Gabe, Becca had decided to never get involved with a man again. And Raze… he wasn’t just a man.

He was her boss.
