Micah shot him his middle finger. Even from across the desk, Raze noticed the patch of shiny, raw skin where the phone must’ve burned him after it shorted out. Angels were immortal; their healing abilities almost as impressive as a shifter’s. The fact that the mark was still there was another truth he wanted to avoid.

Great. Fucking great.

With a wave over at Micah and a nod toward Cael, Raze headed toward the back entrance of the office. There was an executive elevator in the hall, one that would take him anywhere in the hotel without having to step out into the hustle and bustle of the casino’s floor.

House of Sin was open around the clock, though Raze never went out on the floor until nighttime when it was the busiest; it was only then that the benefits outweighed his annoyance at the noise. The jolt of the patrons worshipping the one-eyed bandit gave his waning powers a much needed boost, so he’d make his appearance before retreating to his suite alone.

But, first, the favor.

Ariel said that her friend would be down at one of the hotel’s bars at seven o’clock. He would stop in then, give her the five minutes he promised Ariel, then get on with his night.

It seemed like a good enough plan to Raze. Micah was tasked with locating Sam, so at least he didn’t have to worry about that. Still, an emissary from the vampire faction in the City of Souls—a faction-based community in London—was supposed to be visiting the casino tonight. Another chore he could delegate if he wanted to, but he should make sure the servers had chilled blood on hand just in case.

It was the little touches that made him feel like he was involved in running the casino instead of just profiting off of its patrons.

He needed their adoration like a fix. Their money, too. Ever since the three of them had fallen, Raze had made it his goal to ascend again. Until then, though, he wanted to be comfortable. His obscene wealth made that possible.

In fact, he wanted for nothing.

And he believed that until the clock struck seven and, punctual as ever, he walked into the darkness of the Twilight Bar and Grille—and immediately stopped.

Before he stepped foot inside of the bar, he would’ve sworn that he never noticed the emptiness in his chest. Then he did, and it was as if he was a balloon being pumped full of air. His heart stuttered, and there was a tug deep in his soul that had his gaze torn right toward the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen before in his life.

Ivory skin. Pale eyes. And blood-red hair that couldn’t be real, but that he sensed undoubtedly was, just like Ariel had said.

That wasn’t the only thing he sensed, either.

His angelic aura started pinging the way it always did when a demon was near. Not only that, but his cock twitched before starting to harden. Within seconds, he was completely erect and totally uncomfortable as the bulge pushed against his business slacks.

He was instantly aroused—and it was all because of her.

His soulmate.

It was his soulmate.

The one soul meant for him, the one soul he’d managed to avoid coming across for so long. Now, after thousands of years, he’d finally stumbled upon her.

And, unless he was mistaken—and Raze was positive he wasn’t—she was the friend that Ariel had convinced him to meet with.

Holy fucking hell.

Five minutes would never be enough.
