This new relationship is just getting started. Most of my boyfriends lacked Brett’s complexity and integrity. Not to mention his sexiness. The man makes my panties melt with a mere glance of those gray eyes. Everything about him ignites my body. No man has ever disturbed my train of thought or interrupted my job.

I’m goal-oriented. I always put my aspirations first.

When it comes to Brett, I want to include him. I want him to be a part of what makes me tick. What inspires and drives me. I want to share everything with him.

I’ve never felt this way before. I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about all of it.

I worry I might drown myself in him like I do with my work.

I never thought I could manage both. I dated, but nothing was ever serious.

I held back just enough in case I needed to walk away.

Moving in with Glenn, I knew better. I had a momentary slipup. I was getting older and thought it was time to give a little more to the relationship.

It was wrong. I felt it in the pit of my gut when I was doing it, but I moved in with him anyway. Glenn proved my intuition right.

With Brett, there are no bad feelings in the pit of my stomach. My intuition is shoving me at him, not pushing me away.

The elevator doors open. His familiar strong masculine scent fills me, followed by another delicious aroma.

“Hi.” His eyes flash at me just long enough to weaken the strong independent woman residing in me before he goes back to tending to what’s in the pan on the stove.

“Hi.” I smile, walking toward him. “Smells good.”

“Pasta primavera.” A small smile unfolds on his succulent lips. Towel tossed casually over his shoulder and hair a little messy, he lifts the spoon. “You want a taste?”

Forget what’s on the spoon. I want to sample his mouth.

“Sure.” I open my mouth, and he slides the spoon into it.

“Mmm.” I lick my lips. Let the panty-melting begin. “It’s good.”

“Thanks.” He looks back at the pan, cheeks pinkening.

Is he blushing? “You’re a good cook.”

He glances up at me with a crooked grin. “I like it. Especially after a long day at work. It relaxes me.” His eyes brighten. “Hungry?”

“Starved.” I place my purse on the counter and scan the table, noting the romantic place setting adorned with lit candles, flowers, and dinnerware for two.

Wow. He really went all out.

“What else relaxes you after work?”

“A shower.” He winks as if I could as well, but that goes without saying.

He walks the pan over to the plates. His T-shirt sleeve encircles his bronzed bicep. He’s got great arms. The kind made for holding a woman. His jeans cling to his firm ass, and the way his hair lays over the back of his neck, I can’t look away. He’s let me in a little, and I know there’s so much more to his substance than my eyes could ever devour. It tugs on my heart. I want to slap it away, but I can’t.

How has no woman snagged this gorgeous creature?

I know the answer.

I have something other women don’t. His secrets. It’s almost like cheating.

Still, it cost me to discover them.

I only encountered Brett because of Glenn.
