“Without the spell this time,” Corbin adds quickly. “There’s a party tomorrow. You should come.”

“I don’t know,” I say. “Last time I went to a party it didn’t turn out so well.”

“This one’s different,” Corbin says. “It’s outside in the gardens.”

“There’s a meteor shower tomorrow night,” Damon adds. “Everyone will be there.”

“Everyone? So I can bring Sadie?” I ask.

“Sure,” he says. “Bring the professor who follows you around too if you want.”

My eyes widen.

Damon laughs. “I think you have a stalker. I mean, he’s always around.”

“How do you know?” I counter. “Unless you’re following me too?”

“I’m just keeping an eye on you,” he says. “You intrigue me.”

“That’s not creepy,” I say.

“Ignore him,” Corbin says. “Come to the party. Bring all your friends.”

“I’ll think about it,” I say, picking up my roll and making myself take a bite. I have to admit, the idea of a party in the gardens is very appealing. It would be a nice change from the usual movie nights and beer pong with the non-demons I hang out with. And if they’re all invited too, it’s not much different than my usual Friday nights.

Corbin leans closer to me. “I’ll keep him on his best behavior.”

He did bring me home safely after the last party. Which I never did thank him for. “Thanks by the way. For last time.”

“Thank me by coming to the party,” he says.

“Fine,” I agree.

When I get back to my room, Sadie is sprawled out on the couch reading from a textbook. She looks up at me. “Hey, how was dinner?”

“The twins asked me to sit with them,” I say. “Where were you?”

She sits up and she’s practically bouncing on the couch. “Lance asked me to help with something.”

“Really? Is that what they call it here?” I joke.

“We’re going out tomorrow night,” she says with a squeal.

“Bring him to the party in the garden,” I say.

“What party?” she asks.

“The twins invited me. Some meteor shower, I guess,” I say.

“You sure I’m invited?” she asks.

“I said I wouldn’t go without my friends,” I say.

“Alright, but I’m not promising I’ll stay long,” she says.

“Just keep it in your room,” I say. “I really don’t want to walk in on the two of you.”

She laughs.
