The bigger problem is that, once again, I’m stuck with Liam. And any benefit I get from us working together is likely going to help him too.

“I know why you did this,” I say.

“Why’s that, cause I’d love to know,” Corbin says, a touch of jealousy in his voice.

I glance over at Corbin. “I’m his biggest competition. I do well, he does well.”

Liam rests his hands behind his head, his elbows out. He looks pleased with himself.

“You’re an asshole and you’re not playing fair,” I say.

He drops his hands. “Not fair? I’m not the one getting busy with a teacher.”

“What is he talking about?” Corbin asks.

“You’ll have to ask Harper,” Liam says.

My face heats and I can’t stop the surprise on my expression fast enough. I know he saw my reaction.

Liam grins and leans closer to me. “You’re not the only one who can resort to blackmail.”

“What the hell is he talking about?” Corbin asks.

I’m silent while my mind races. How does Liam even know about me and Adrian?

“I don’t know why you’re all sitting in your seats while that potion waits for someone to find it,” Professor Lee says.

I take that as my queue to leave and stand, grabbing my books that were left abandoned on the floor. I know Corbin and I have some things to talk about after class but now isn’t the time.

“We’ll talk later,” I say with a forced smile.

Corbin nods.

“Ladies first,” Liam says, sweeping his arm out in an exaggerated gesture.

I roll my eyes and walk past him to join the rest of our class as we file out of the room. This is setting up to be a very long semester.
