A few months ago, that would have terrified me. Losing them. Being stuck in Rixon alone, without my friends. But I wasn’t that girl anymore. So much had changed.

I had changed.

I had a job I enjoyed, my own place, and Xander.

Everything else was just a bonus.

My cell phone started ringing and Lily snickered. “Oh my God, he’s worse than Dad.”

I splashed her as I climbed out the hot tub and wrapped a towel around my waist. “I’ll be in our room.”

“Tell Xander we said we’re confiscating your phone tomorrow,” Ashleigh called after me.

“Hello,” I said, answering him.

“Hey, what are you up to?”

“You know you called me four hours ago, right?” I suppressed a giggle as I slipped into mine and Ashleigh’s room. “Lily and Ashleigh are talking about confiscating my cell tomorrow.”

“Tell them if they do that, I won’t hesitate to come up there.”

“You’re missing me?”

“The apartment isn’t the same without you.”

“Xander…”

“Move in with me,” he blurted out of nowhere.

“Wh-what?”

“Move in with me. We spend every night together anyway. And I’m fed up with having half my clothes at your place and half at my place.”

“But it’s soon, really soon…” My heart crashed wildly against my chest.

He wanted us to live together.

He was right. We already spent nearly every night together, meaning one of us was always driving back and forth for work. It wasn’t that far though.

“Or I can move in with you, if you’d rather stay in Rixon,” he went on. “I just know, I’m sitting here in my apartment and you’re not here and it sucks.”

“You’re serious?”

“As a heart attack. I love you, Blondie, and I plan on spending the rest of my life with you. So the way I see it, we could do the regular stages of a relationship, or we could jump straight ahead to the part where you’re in my bed every night with your girly shit all over my apartment and—”

“Yes,” I smiled so hard my cheeks hurt, “yes, I’ll move in with you.”

“Wow, I had a whole speech prepared. I even made a list.”

“You did not.” Laughter spilled out of me, and it was so pure, so full of love, I thought my heart might burst.

“Did too,” he quipped. “So we’re doing this? We’re really going to live together?”

“Yeah, I think we are.”

“Monday,” he deadpanned.

“Monday?”
