“You are all types of fucked-up. How Chanel hasn’t managed to slit your throat when you’re sleeping is beyond me.”

“I’m just too charming.” Lucas shrugs smugly.

“Enough,” Keir growls as the man we’ve been waiting for exits the club. The minute he sees us, his eyes go wide, and his hands slide into his pockets.

“Guys.” He nods, stepping over to us.

Lucas pushes off the car and walks over to him, pacing around him like a cat, and stops at his back. “Birdies have been telling me stories, Brian.”

Brian tries to stay very calm, very still.

“You remember who we are, right?” I ask him.

Brian nods his head in quick, successive jerks.

Jake, who owns the sex club, gave me a heads-up when Brian arrived.

“Of course.”

“And you know we have multiple businesses?” I ask him, casually leaning against the car as Piper and Keir stay quiet.

“For example, I co-owned a little bookstore,” Lucas states.

We watch him closely. His brows pinch together, his face tightens, and beads of sweat build on his face as he tries to hold his expression still to not give anything away.

It isn’t working.

“I mean, you know anything I own is well protected, right? With security cameras and the whole works,” Lucas says, leaning in and whispering into Brian’s ear.

Brian’s face starts to go red.

“Are we the type of people you want to anger, Brian?” I question with a bit of a bite.

Jake walks out, a cigarette to his lips and a lighter in one hand. He gives us all a nod before he turns around to head back inside.

“Jake, please don’t leave me out here with them.”

Jake doesn’t stop. While Jake may be a terrifying man in his own right, he knows better. We have respect from Jake, but Brian seems to have forgotten what respect is.

“Guys, please. They made me.”

“They made you?” Piper says, then throws her head back and laughs. “I checked your bank account and saw you got paid for your little job.” She steps straight up to him and reaches inside his jeans pocket and pulls out his phone. Turning it to face him, she unlocks it with the face ID and steps back next to Keir. “He really needs to learn to use the delete button,” Piper mutters with a smile before she shows Keir. “Look at his location.” Keir looks up at me. “Italy.” Piper gets in the car where her computer is located and takes his phone with him.

I hold the back door open and wave to Brian. “Come on, Brian, it’s time we go for a little drive.”

“No, please, I don’t want to,” Brian cries.

Lucas kicks the back of his legs so he falls forward, and barely manages to catch himself with his hands before doing a face-plant on the concrete. “Please, I’m begging you.”

“I would get in the car, now,” I say to him.

Lucas walks around to the other side as Brian gets up and into the car. He crawls into the middle, and I sit on his other side. Keir drives the car with Piper in the passenger seat on her computer.

“They didn’t even pay that well,” she says, shaking her head. “I mean, if you’re going to commit a felony, at least make an exceptional amount of money out of it. This is more of a payment for robbing grandma’s house.”

“Please don’t kill me.” Brian starts crying, and it’s embarrassing.

“That’s up to Lucas. You did burn down his building,” I tell him, lifting my brows.
