Page 47 of My Fake Fiancé

She’s trying to act clueless, but I know she’s not. The way her body moves closer to mine without her doing it on purpose, how she reacts when I’m near, there’s no doubt we have sexual tension. And right now, my dick is begging me to unleash some on her.

I give her an expression I hope conveys that she’s insane for trying to deny it.

She laughs again, this time her head falling back until she’s unsteady and falls onto her back. Her shirt hugs her breasts and it’s all I can do not to keep looking to see if I can tell where her nipples are. God, what I would do right now if she was mine to climb on top of and seduce.

“I’m serious,” I say. “You have no idea how much you’re driving me crazy right now.”

A flush creeps up her neck, the one I loved seeing when I’d arrive late at night. As if she was surprised and not expecting me, but pleased.

I snap a couple more pictures.

She sits up, crosses her legs, and places her hands in her lap. “Noah, you know we can’t do anything. We’re committed to this fake engagement.”

“Exactly. So it’s not like we can sleep with other people. We might as well sleep with each other.” The idea that’s been rolling around in my head for the past few days sails past my lips.

She slides off the bed. “You’re insane. Then feelings will form, and lines will blur, and we’ll end up hating one another in the end when one of us makes the mistake of thinking this is real. If we keep clear of anything sexual, we’ll get through this. Your mom and grandma were really getting along today. It’s a great sign that they’re making progress.”

Now if only my dad could get on board.

Mandi makes sense and I don’t ever want her to hate me, so I set aside my stupid idea, even though a huge part of me knows the two of us would be fireworks in the bedroom.

“That’s great to hear. Come over here. I want to show you something.” I forget the camera for a moment and tuck my half-chub dick away where he belongs. “I still have to get a few more pictures, but I had a friend do a new logo for you. What do you think?”

I hold the chair out for her. She clicks through the pictures, checking out the different pages on the website. The logo isn’t as masculine as it once was. The colors are now light and flirty, pinks, golds, and light gray.

“I love it,” she murmurs, her gaze bouncing from one side of the screen to the next. “Does this mean I have to get everything outside redone too? Make it all match? Brochures and things like that.”

I can see her worry, but that’s the last thing I want. “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Just tell me if you want anything changed on the site.”

She continues to flip from page to page. “No, it’s amazing. Truly. I love it.”

Her smile is thanks enough. I would have happily done this without her agreeing to marry me.

“Good. Then I’ll get all that going. And let’s go have dinner tonight and talk about what else you want to do. How we can really drive people in here.”

“This is enough, Noah, honestly. This and all the pictures you’re taking, the brochure you’re going to do… I can’t take any more.”

I sit on the edge of the bed and stretch my legs. She watches me with interest. “You’re legally marrying me knowing we’re going to divorce a year later. I’d say that’s going above and beyond. In order to pay you back properly, I’d need to tear down the entire inn and rebuild it.”

“You would not.” She stands.

I get up to follow because all I want right now is to be with her. “Dinner?”

She laughs. “It’s not even dinnertime yet.”

“Surely there are other wedding things to do? We need to find a bakery.”

“Francois can bake the cake.”

We leave my room and I shut the door. “There’s something about a guy named Frank baking your wedding cake.” I shudder. “What about that bakery in Lake Starlight?”

She shakes her head. “Never going to have availability on this short notice.”

“It doesn’t hurt to try. Come on. Let’s take a ride.”

She descends the stairs, and at the bottom, we see Frank with his hands on his hips. “You two. Now.” He nods toward the dining room, then turns and walks in that direction.

“He heard you call him Frank,” she whispers.
