“Ilook like a giant blueberry!” Posey shouts, looking down at her dress that cuts off under her boobs and flows out over her swollen belly. “I’m sorry, Mandi, but I’m going to have to forbid any pictures of me in this thing.”

“You look beautiful,” Mandi tells her sister.

I sit on a table in the back of the sewing room that doesn’t look all that used. Shouldn’t there be a lot of thread or sewing machines in here?

I was disappointed when the dancing ended. I almost kissed her. God, I wanted to so badly. If it wasn’t for the dirty dancing starting, I would’ve. The urge to taste her is way too strong.

I don’t know why I asked her to go on an excursion with me. Maybe to try to prove to myself that my lifestyle isn’t for her. I have no clue, but she’s coming, so I’m going to have to deal with blue balls for two days straight.

“Watch Noah for me?” Nikki walks her kid over to me and he just stares.

“Sure.” I look at the kid. “We share a name.”

“Me Noah!” He points at himself.

I nod and put on a placating smile. “Yeah, I’m Noah too.”

“Me. Noah!” He points at me. “You. No Noah!”

I chuckle. “You can call me whatever you want, buddy.”

Nikki comes out wearing a dress that has multiple layers of see-through navy fabric that’s meant to flare out when she spins. “What is this?”

Mandi bites her lip.

Chevelle waddles around like a penguin, looking for scissors. Her dress goes down to her ankles and doesn’t flare out enough, so she can’t walk properly. “I need scissors! I don’t wear anything past the knee, Grandma.”

“This is a wedding, not a dance club, Chevelle,” Dori tells her.

But Chevelle searches every surface anyway.

Mandi glances across the room at me, biting her lip.

“Sorry,” I mouth.

She shrugs.

Meanwhile, baby Noah’s eyes are on me, giving me his worst death glare. I guess at almost three, it’s the best he can do.

“Listen, girls, you asked for the sewing circle to make the dresses, so you’re going to wear them. It’s one day,” Mandi says.

“And a lifetime of photographic evidence.” Posey puts her arms over her belly.

“Plus side. We’ll always remember how much bigger you were than me when you delivered.” Nikki laughs, touching Posey’s stomach.

Posey picks up Nikki’s hand and drops it. “I heard you show faster the second time around.” She eyes Nikki’s stomach.

“What?” Mandi asks, her mouth dropping open. “You’re pregnant?”

Nikki’s lips tense into a thin line as she glares in Posey’s direction. “I wasn’t telling anyone.”

“Since when do you keep these things from us?” Chevelle waddles over to the group.

If I wasn’t cornered by baby Noah and on babysitting duty, I’d leave them to their discussion. I’m not even sure I’m supposed to see the bridesmaids’ dresses, or maybe it’s only the wedding gown. That thought makes me wonder what dress Mandi picked out. Of course, it’s not like I’ll be peeling it off her body on our wedding night. No honeymoon. Fuck, that sucks.

“Since I didn’t want to rain on Mandi’s day or time.” Nikki narrows her eyes at Posey.

“I see where you get it, kid,” I say to baby Noah.
