"You're thinking it." He glared at me as a rumbling growl came out of him once more. "Stop. I can't be responsible for my actions right now. Please just stop. Antoine would kill me."

"Oh?" My face lifted with amusement. I'd thought that very thing this morning. Oh, the irony. "Not if you don't tell him. I know I won't."

For a second, I thought Rayne would give into my teasing and prodding, that he'd stomp across the room and throw me down on the island before burying his face between my thighs. My lower half clenched deliciously and screamed a resounding yes to that idea.

Fate was not on our side though. Well, if Fate was named Darren. That fucking vagina blocker.

"Master Durand, can I assist you with anything?" Darren appeared behind Rayne with a tight expression on his face. He shifted between Rayne and the door frame to move into the kitchen, then eyed me before turning his attention back to Rayne.

With a half-bow, a hand to his chest, Darren asked again, "Please, let me assist you. Miss Billings has other chores to attend to."

Which was Darren's way of saying get the fuck out of the kitchen and get to work you wanton hussy. Okay, so that last part was me, but still, I could read between the lines.

"No, I'm fine. I was just going to bed." Rayne's eyes stayed locked on me the entire time, and for a moment, I think he almost gave in. Then in a blink of my eyes, he was gone.

Darren turned and scowled at me. "Why didn't you tell me you were on your menstrual cycle?"

"I didn't think it was a problem.” I shrugged. “My last cycle didn't bother them so why should this one?" I grabbed a coffee cup from the cabinet and proceeded to get my much-needed caffeine. Now, if only I could get some ice cream and hide up in my room, everything would be great.

Darren made an impatient sound in the back of his throat. "Clearly that is not the case this time. Retire to your room. You're restricted to your bedroom for the rest of the day and possibly the next three."

"What?" I shrieked as I barely kept myself from burning myself with the coffee I was pouring.

Darren marched across the kitchen and took the pot from me. Pouring my cup, he shoved the pot back into its place before giving me my cup. "You heard me. Now, while I know you cannot help when your body decides to shed its uterine lining, I expect you to be more mindful in the future of what kind of household you are living in. We have enough work to do around here without you driving the masters into a frenzy."

"But what about food?" I whined, my lower lip pushing out. "I have to eat."

With a reluctant sigh, Darren lifted his eyes to the heavens. "I will bring you your meals. If there are any books you would like, I can bring those from the library for you as well. The television in your bedroom works as well if you haven't yet tried it. Now, get out of my kitchen before you end up being the next thing on the menu."

While I should have been offended by his demands of me, I just didn't have the energy to care. After all, I wanted to do exactly as he said, so before he could change his mind, I took my coffee and skipped toward the stairs. He didn't have to tell me twice.
