Chapter 11

Piper

Iwas lounging aroundin my pajamas one evening when I realized I needed a drink. My mouth felt like it was full of cotton balls, and I was desperate for something other than water.

But it was after six o'clock. The masters were up, and Darren would be bringing my dinner any time now. Again.

Three days. I'd been stuck in my room for three days. In theory, being waited on hand and foot was a wish come true, but in reality? It sucked hairy man balls.

I couldn't leave my room. I’d call Darren but he and the rest of the house seem to be allergic to answering the phone. That or it was just when I called. I tried texting him my request but all that got me was a rude glare and cold pasta for dinner.

Besides being thirsty, I was bored. I'd read all the books I wanted to, watched as much mindless television as I possibly could, but I needed human interaction. More importantly, my period body had shifted into its inevitable horny mood and wanted nothing more than to hop on the first vampire I saw for some relief.

But that wasn’t the worst of it. That was reserved for the dreams. I already had pretty vivid dreams about the masters as it was, but this time, my period really must be yearning for the relief the vampires could give me whether or not my mind kind of found the thought icky.

I refused to touch myself though.

Antoine's words and the thought of them hearing me was more than enough of a deterrent to cool my raging libido. Even when I was in the bathtub and wanted nothing more than to throw my head back against the rim and go to town on myself, I didn't trust the horny bitch inside of me not to moan.

Even now, sitting here on my bed and staring holes in my door as I willed Darren to hurry up with my dinner, I wanted nothing more than to slip my hand into my pants or at least grind against my clit to stop the constant ache.

"Screw it," I declared as I jumped off my bed. I marched toward the door and hesitated only for a moment before pulling the door open. I was sort of surprised that it wasn't locked. Darren had been pretty adamant about me staying in my room. I guess he trusted me to keep my word, a horrible decision on his part really.

I popped my head out into the hallway and searched for the grumpy butler. No sign of him. With a skip and a grin, I stepped into the hallway and closed my bedroom door behind me. My night shorts did nothing to shelter me against the chill of the hallway. I shivered and rubbed my hands over my bare arms, wishing I'd at least worn something other than a tank top.

Hey, at least I was wearing a bra. That counted for something, right?

As I made my way to the kitchen, I frowned. It was quiet, too quiet for after six o'clock. The masters were usually up and about causing all kinds of mayhem or having some kind of dinner party I wasn't allowed to attend because they didn't want to scar my delicate sensibilities.

I snorted and rolled my eyes.

Delicate, my ass.

I wasn't stupid. I knew they hired women to drink from. It wasn't like I was going to stop them or try to save the women. They were getting paid after all. They got paid to cuddle up to Wynn, to put their hands in his hair as he pressed opened mouth kisses to their neck before letting his fangs slip inside of them.

A pang of jealousy made me rub my chest.

Stop it. They aren't yours. You can't get mad that they're feeding on them and not you. Besides, you don't want them to bite you, do you?

Well, to be honest, maybe I was a bit curious. I mean, who wouldn't be? I lived with six sexy as hell vampires who hadn't so much as hinted at biting me. Rayne had nicked me with his fangs the first time we kissed, but that was about it. I was disappointed that they had such self-control around me.

Call me crazy, but shouldn't the men I like have a hard time controlling themselves around me?

I shook my head at the thought as I came into the kitchen. No one was there either, not even Darren. I frowned.

Where was everyone?

Desperate for attention but also dying for a drink, I went to the fridge first to quench my thirst. Inside, I found a soda and also a crap ton of bottles of blood. With a curious look at the bottles, I glanced around the kitchen as if I expected someone to come in and reprimand me. When no one did, I picked up one of the silver metal containers and twisted the cap off. I bent my nose against the rim and sniffed.

My nose crinkled in disgust as the coppery metal smell hit my nose. I quickly closed the lid and put it back before shutting the fridge door. As I did, it revealed that Darren now stood on the other side of it.

"Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!" I grabbed my chest and breathed heavily as I glared at the stoic butler. "What the hell are you doing, sneaking around in a vampire's lair?"

I had to give it to Darren, his lips didn't even so much as twitch. Instead, his eyes had even more condescension in them than usual. "Are you done?"

After staring at him for a moment, I didn't know what he was talking about them and then it dawned on me. "No. Not yet."

"Then you shouldn't be out of your room." His voice was sharp and almost hurtful but I brushed it aside.
