My jaw tightened as I stared Morpheus down. Did I believe him? Did I put all of our lives in the hands of the one vampire alive I wanted dead more than anything else? Did I have a choice?
I looked to Allister and then to Drake.
Drake shook his head. “No. No way. We can’t let him go after all this. Don’t listen to him, Piper. It’s a trick.”
“Allister?” I swallowed, trying to find some other way. “What do you think?”
He looked to his brother and then to Morpheus before finally landing back on me. “I...I don’t know. But I can’t hold him much longer.”
“I...I...” I glanced from one brother to the other. Stuck in the middle of an impossible decision I did not want to make. I did the only thing I could do. The only thing that ensured that my family would not hurt anymore at Morpheus’s hands.
I attacked.
