I shut the door behind him—well, slammed it really—and stared at the key hook. I could so easily grab those, pack a bag and leave all this behind. Kase. Troy. Hunter. Grant and his stupid knife. Olin, Rachel, Gran, ghosts—everything that made my life so damned complicated. They could all be just figments in my rearview mirror.

Driving until my credit cards gave out sounded amazing.

That void haunted me. It wouldn’t go away, wouldn’t let me close my eyes without remembering it.
