“Your alpha is right. A wolf of my rank doesn’t need any guards, and if he really wants to convince me to trade my loyalty to his pack, I need to be free to explore. There’s no reason for Jace to stay.” A small smile plays on my lips. “Unless we’re not guests. But the Wicked Wolf wouldn’t lie to me, would he?”

He purses his lips for a moment. His nostrils flare, obviously trying to find some way to answer that in a way I like without being disloyal to his Alpha.

“Of course not. You’re… you’re an honored guest.”

Theo is obviously trying to be the good guy. For as long as he wants to act as if he’s on my side, I’m going to take it.

“I’ll see you in a few weeks, Jace,” I tell him. Now get out while you can.

He looks from me to Theo and back.

“Count on it, Alpha,” he vows.
