Epilogue

Two weeks later

“Today has been great but that’s all for our very first show,” Devon said to the camera. “Tune in tomorrow for a fabulous interview with New York Times Best-selling Author, Oscar Roman, who’ll discuss his latest thriller release and give us a sneak peek into what’s coming next. And Julie Ani, the winner of the Food Fantastic competition, will show us basic tricks to ramping up our beach get-togethers to make them not only memorable but delicious, too. Until then, have a great day and enjoy that sunshine.”

Devon held her smile until given the all clear and turned to face the group waiting for her backstage. “Well?”

Oz grinned with pride, as did her mother, and Devon hurried across the set toward them.

Oz drew her to him for a quick kiss and then released her for her mother to hug.

“You were wonderful, sweetheart. Just wonderful!” Rayna said, releasing her.

“I agree,” Connor added. “Congratulations, young lady. I see a success in the making.”

“I couldn’t agree more,” Georgette said, also giving Devon a quick hug. “You’re a natural talk show host.”

“Thank you. I’m so glad you kept after me to come back home.”

“Well,” Connor said. “Shall we go celebrate?”

Her mother smiled up at Connor, and Devon loved the fact her mother looked so happy. Not only looked it but anyone could see she’d fallen madly in love with Connor, and the man with her. Devon wouldn’t be surprised if there were wedding bells in their future.

The five of them made their way out of the building. It was a short drive to the elegant oceanfront restaurant, and Devon, Oz, her mother, and Connor chatted the entire way about the plans for her show and future guests.

Once at the restaurant, the group was greeted warmly by the hostess, and Oz urged Devon to take the lead.

Devon focused on the gorgeous view and not running into chairs along the way, which was why she didn’t see the group gathered.

“Congratulations!”

The Babes, their husbands and children, and even a few of the grandchildren lined the table and applauded.

Devon smiled, trying and failing to hide the color surging to her cheeks as the rest of the large restaurant looked on with curiosity. “Thank you. I can’t believe you’re all here! I’m so glad we can celebrate together.”

Her mother and Connor took seats, but when Devon started to pull out a chair, Oz took her hand and stopped her.

She looked up at him in surprise.

“Marry me,” he said softly.

Devon gasped. “What?”

Oz narrowed his gaze on her at the response and she hurried to correct it. “You’re sure?”

“What are you two whispering about over there?” Michael asked.

“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life,” Oz said. “Will you marry me?”

Those closest to them heard the question, and a low murmur went through the group. Devon placed her hands on his chest and rose onto her tiptoes, pressing her lips to his. “Yes. Yes, absolutely, yes.”

The group let out whoops and applause while Oz wrapped his arms around her and lifted her up against him, kissing her. “I love you,” she murmured against his lips. “And this time I promise—I’ll race you to the altar.”
