Pinned down by the comforting weight of his body, Claire could do nothing except lie there and take every sensation he was giving her. Her hands found his platinum blond hair and she threaded her fingers through it. When she tugged, he growled and emboldened, Claire tugged again. It seemed that her gryphon was hanging on by a smaller thread than she thought as the next time she went to tug his hair, she found herself flipped onto her stomach faster than she could blink.

He pulled her hips back so she was on her knees, her face still planted on the bed. Everett shoved a pillow under her hips and then another one. Claire arched her back and pushed back at him, the need to bond with her mate driving her hard. That and the aphrodisiac Elven tea was still running through her blood. In this position, Claire felt strangely vulnerable but also extremely turned on. Everett didn’t move for a few moments, and Claire was about to push up and take matters into her own hands.

As if sensing her intention, Everett pressed a hand to her upper back, the pressure light but the intent clear. He trailed that hand down her spine, his fingertips causing goosebumps to break out on her back. She shivered as his hand palmed her butt before snaking around her hip. His fingers found her wet, achy center but didn’t penetrate. Instead, he circled her opening with a softness that had Claire wanting to whimper in protest. But she stayed silent. Without being told, she knew if she made a sound, he would start over.

When she didn’t move or make a sound, Everett moved his hand. Claire wanted to sag with disappointment but in a quick snap of his hips, he filled her in one thrust. A cry tore from her throat at the sudden intrusion. Everett gave her no time to adjust however before he set a brutal pace. Apparently, the quiet game was over as Everett bent over her and started whispering filthy things in her ear.

“Such a good mate, taking all of my cock so well.”

He groaned, the sound causing Claire’s insides to clench. “So much tighter at this angle, aren’t you. You’re just sucking me in.”

Claire could barely keep up with the string of filthy words coming out of her quiet protector’s mouth. She wasn’t able to answer any of them, instead whimpers and moans fell from her lips as she pushed her hips back to meet his thrusts. He nudged her knees wider and Claire let out a cry as the change in angle had her seeing stars.

Everett snaked one hand under her, palming each of her breasts before pressing it to the center of her chest. He lifted her up, manhandling her into the position he wanted, her back pressed to his chest as he still drilled inside of her. The position had her clenching impossibly tighter around him and he groaned. From the side, Desmond extended Everett’s gryphon feather and Everett released the hand on her hip to take it. It was the one that had caught Claire’s eye when she had first seen it at the Dragon Mountains. Its black tip looked like it was dipped in ink but what had caught Claire’s eyes originally was the darker spot in the middle of the feather that looked like a heart.

As she watched, Everett cradled it in his palm, pressing it into her chest, right above her heart. “With this gift freely given, I bind thee to me. May our hearts always soar through the winds of eternity.”

As Everett spoke the words, the feather tickling against her skin began sparking up. The sensation didn’t burn but tingled as the feather seemed to melt into Claire’s skin. When she looked down, she could see the faint outline of the feather against her chest, like an outline of a tattoo. When the feather finished absorbing, Claire felt the bond between them lock into place. His gryphon roared in triumph through their connection and it felt like Claire’s senses exploded. The sensation was overwhelming and pushed Claire over the edge of the orgasm she was riding. Everett let out a groan as he felt her walls milk him and he pumped three more times into her before letting out his own roar of completion.

Soft hands caught her as she came close to passing out from all of the sensations. Exhaustion weighed heavy in her muscles as a warm cloth ran up and down her skin. She felt the cool touch of Desmond’s healing magic as she was bundled under the blankets.

She didn’t have to open her eyes to feel all three of her men were close by. The bonds between all of them felt like a solid tether, pulsing lightly inside of her. Her magic had settled under the strength of the bonds, the quietness and peace lulling her into an exhausted sleep as Malcolm brushed his lips across her forehead and her Triad settled in next to her.

“Idon’t like this.”

“So you’ve said,” Desmond wrapped his arms around Claire. “But the faster we go, the faster we can come back. I need to break the enchantment on Maxios’ hoard if we have a chance of swaying his clan to our side.”

“I know.” Claire fought to keep the pout off her face. Maybe it was her newly solidified Triad bonds protesting the separation but something that morning had Claire’s senses on edge. Something was in the air and coming fast. The problem was Claire didn’t have any idea what. Just this vague sense of urgency she had felt before.

“We’ll be fine,” Malcolm said, his voice sure and steady. “We are stronger now than ever. I’ll fly as fast as I can and have your wizard back to you in no time.”

“And you too,” Claire fixed him with a look. “I want both of you back here safely.”

“I promise.” Malcolm’s words were sure and the tightness around Claire’s throat eased slightly at his certainty. “Desmond’s right though, as much as I hate to admit it. The faster we leave, the faster we will be back.”

Claire ignored Desmond’s fist pump in the air when Malcolm admitted he was right and wrapped her arms around her dragon. Cinnamon and smoke teased her nostrils. His arms came around her and he squeezed her back just as tightly. We’ll be careful,he said in her head.Keep your eyes and our connection open.

I will, Claire promised.

Desmond stole her away from Malcolm for his own hug. He lifted her chin and pressed a kiss against her mouth as Claire felt the air ripple and shift next to her. Warm breath huffed down at them and Claire lifted her head to see Malcolm’s massive red dragon form. His head nudged Desmond away from Claire and she laughed as Desmond sputtered. She scratched the underside of his jaw, careful around his sharp horns, as Everett fitted a modified leather strap around his neck for Desmond to hold onto.

“Alright, up you go,” Everett offered Desmond a leg up. Desmond sighed and clutched his satchel, looking a few shades paler than he had before. Her poor wizard still hated heights.

He mounted quickly though and Everett guided Claire backwards as Malcolm spread his wings. Claire readied her magic, drawing her daggers as Malcolm crouched. The Fae had said that portals to the outside world were blocked so Claire was going to have to open the barrier around the Fae lands again and close it back behind them. They had chosen to do it in a different spot this time, towards the back of the Fae lands on the opposite side of the first opening in the barrier Claire had created. Malcolm had assured her that the change in location didn’t matter as it would actually be closer to the Dragon Mountains.

Claire let her magic fill her daggers, focusing in on the spot she was going to open and seal back shut again. She was going to copy the idea she had from Kallan and Kieran yesterday when they parted the wards protecting her father like a curtain. She would have to do it quickly and was going to need a large amount of magic to pull it off so she didn’t leave the Fae vulnerable to another attack. They didn’t think anyone was watching this side of the barrier but they couldn’t be sure. Her friends and cousins stood off to the side, ready to help if anything were to go wrong.

Malcolm’s great head swung towards her and Claire read the question in his gaze. She nodded and he swung his head forward again, muscles tensing. Now!she sent down the bond.

Malcolm launched himself in the air, a strangled yelp leaving Desmond. He flew straight at the barrier, with no hesitation. Letting her magic fly, Claire ripped open the barrier in front of him, having to create an opening three times the size of the first one she created to fit Malcolm through it. As it was, Malcolm tucked his wings in close and shot through the opening like an arrow.

As soon as his red tail cleared the opening, Claire dropped the daggers, knowing they would magically appear back in their sheaths. She let her magic flood her palms and wove it quickly into the torn barrier, placing as many layers as she could until the barrier felt like it had been sealed again. Everett stepped up to her back, catching her as she sagged into him. Their newly activated bond flooded into her, helping restore her strength as her magic settled.

“Thanks,” she said, smiling warmly up at him.

“Of course,” he nuzzled her neck.
