“I need a shower and some clothes,” Harlee said. They’d eaten, cleaned the kitchen and she felt mostly naked traipsing around in nothing but a T-shirt, which left her at a decided disadvantage.

Adrian rolled his eyes. “Can’t you do all that in the morning?”

“In case you haven’t noticed, slick, it is morning. Or at least I think so since there aren’t any freaking windows here at the bat cave.”

“She’s right,” Duncan said. “It’s six in the morning.”

Harlee leveled an “I told you so” smirk at Adrian. “Shower? Clothes?”

“Fine. Follow me.”

Adrian led her out of the kitchen and down a long hallway toward a carpeted staircase. Her bare feet sank into the plush carpet over each step, her hand gliding over the cherry wood banister that gleamed as if it were polished daily.

At the top of the stairs was a sitting room. She could barely make out the antique furnishings since the hall was only dimly lit.

“Bet y’all miss sunrise, don’t you?” she asked, glaring at Adrian’s back.

“Sunlight’s just fine for me,” Duncan said. “I’m a lycan.”

Adrian stayed silent while they walked down a long hallway flanked by at least six rooms on either side. He chose the one at the far end of the hall on the right, opening it and standing there blocking the doorway. She brushed past him, the contact of her shoulder against his chest like an electric shock to her system, zinging her pussy to life with a throbbing pulse.

Down, sex drive, down. Now would not be a good time.

“This will be your room while you’re here,” Adrian said, flipping on the lights.

A king-sized bed sat against the far wall, with a matching dresser and nightstands on either side. The room was huge, with a matching vanity table and mirror, an armoire and a desk.

“Wow,” was all she could manage. Her house was modest to say the least, and on her government salary she couldn’t afford nice furniture. Not that it had mattered to her. She never coveted the finer things in life, but she couldn’t help admire the décor in this room. Every piece of furniture was antique and ornate, the wood rich and no doubt as sturdy as it looked.

“Bathroom’s through here,” he said, flipping on another light switch.

From old world to modern, the bathroom boasted a whirlpool tub large enough for all three of them to occupy. The visual sent her cheeks flaming and her imagination heading in directions she’d rather not follow.

“There’s soap, shampoo, towels, brushes and the like in the closet right here. Go ahead and take your shower. I’ll find you some clothes.”

“Preferably something a little less…yours, I hope.” She refused to admit how soft his T-shirt felt resting on her bare breasts, or how it smelled like the man glaring at her.

“Obviously.” He shut the door on her and she hurried over to lock it, not trusting him or Duncan not to burst in on her to begin their “seduction”. And the way her body had suddenly decided to come to life, she couldn’t guarantee she’d be able to put up too much of a fight.

But she would fight. She had to.

After a search of the closet, she had everything she needed and turned on the shower, sitting on the edge of the tub while the room steamed up. She stripped off the T-shirt and stepped into the oversized shower, letting out a sigh of bliss as jets from all three walls shot in her direction.

Oh, this was definitely a slice of heaven.

She didn’t know how long she stood in there soaking up the warmth and washing her hair, but she jerked when she heard a knock on the door, tensing and ready to grab a towel in case Duncan or Adrian came bursting in.

“I’ll be out in a minute!” she yelled, hoping whoever stood on the other side of the door would remain there. Hurrying the rest of the way through her shower, she turned off the knobs and reached for a towel, briskly drying her hair and body before slipping on the only piece of clothing that she had—Adrian’s T-shirt. She couldn’t help the deep breath she took as she lifted it over her head. He may be an irritating ass, but he smelled damn good.

When she stepped out of the bathroom, neither Adrian nor Duncan were present. Instead, standing by her bed was a gorgeous pixie with waist-length sable hair and a heart-shaped face that would stop man or woman in their tracks just for a second look. Huge amber eyes stared curiously at her.

The woman was close to her own age, only didn’t dress the way Harlee dressed. She wore the tightest leather pants she’d ever seen, very low cut and showing off a sexy piercing at her navel. The jewel glittered in the bright overhead lights. Her top half, and of that there was more than plenty considering her diminutive frame, was barely held in by some sexy lacy thing that she supposed could be called a top.

Even a completely heterosexual woman such as herself would have to think “wow” when looking at her.

“Hey there,” she said, her face lighting up with a welcoming smile. “We all just heard about you. Wow, bet it was as big a surprise for you as it was for us, huh?”
