Harlee shot a glance at Annmarie, wondering how she’d feel if she told her about what happened between her and Duncan. She’d seemed really into him at the club last night. Maybe Harlee had stepped in territory she shouldn’t have.

Shit.

“Something’s on your mind,” Annmarie said, sitting up and criss-crossing her legs. “Tell me.”

Harlee sat too, facing Annmarie. “You might not like it.”

“Try me.”

“It’s about me and Duncan,” she said, biting her lower lip in anticipation.

“You fucked him.”

Unable to read Annmarie’s expression, Harlee nodded. “Yeah.”

Brow arched, Annmarie’s lips curled into a knowing smile. “Bet he was good. Tell me everything and don’t spare the details!”

Harlee expelled the breath she’d been holding. “Oh, thank God! I thought you’d be pissed.”

“Why would I be? I don’t own Duncan. I might like to fuck him someday, but other than that I have no interest in being tied down to one mate. Not when there are so many men I’ve yet to try.”

“You are so bad,” Harlee said, then on impulse grabbed Annmarie and hugged her. “I’ve never really had a confidante, someone I’d consider a friend.”

“Me either. I don’t like most people. They annoy me.”

“Then I’m glad you can tolerate me. Your cousin can’t seem to.”

Annmarie waved her hand in dismissal. “Ignore him. He’s just pissed off because he’s hot for you and doesn’t want to be.”

Harlee wasn’t certain if that was a compliment or not. “I think maybe he saw Duncan and me together today.”

Annmarie nodded. “Probably. And I’ll bet he was jealous as hell. Isn’t that great?”

“Great? He probably hates me now.”

“Honey, trust me. He doesn’t hate you. He wants you. He feels something for you. If he didn’t feel something then seeing you with Duncan wouldn’t have meant a thing to him. The fact it pissed him off means something big. That kind of thing doesn’t happen to Adrian and he doesn’t know how to handle it.” She threw herself back onto the bed and giggled. “Oh this is just perfect!” Rolling onto her side, she propped her head against her hand and said, “Now we just need to figure out how to torment him about it.”

Harlee’s face fell. “I don’t want to torment him. I feel bad he saw what he did. Something happened today between Duncan and me. It was like a boiling, urgent need that I couldn’t control. I don’t know. Maybe it was just relief that he wasn’t seriously injured.”

“Or maybe it’s the lycan half of you needing to mate.”

She wished her feelings were that easy to explain. But since she wasn’t lycan, there had to be another reason for her to have jumped Duncan when she’d never intended to.

“Tell me something,” Annmarie said. “If it bothers you so much that Adrian saw you and Duncan having sex, then maybe your feelings are stronger for him than they are for Duncan?”

God, she hoped not. “Why would you think that?”

“Well, let’s put it another way. Picture you and Adrian doing the mattress mambo together. And Duncan walks in. How would you feel knowing he was watching you?”

She pondered the thought for a few minutes then realized she was getting turned on picturing Adrian’s long, lean body covering hers, his cock pumping in and out of her wet pussy and Duncan standing beside the bed, stroking his thick shaft as he watched.

“That’s a damned exciting thought,” Harlee admitted.

“Thought so. You’ve got it bad for my cousin. You have my sympathies.”

She didn’t know what to make of these mixed-up feelings, but she was at glad to at least have Annmarie to help. “I should go to him and explain about Duncan.”

“That is the last thing you should do. Never go to a man. Make him come to you. Especially someone like Adrian. I can guarantee that thoughts of you are filling his every waking moment. You’re driving him crazy. It’s only a matter of time, honey.”
