Evan looked at the man realizing that Cousin Everett did, in fact, have thoughtful opinions to share and perhaps, he’d needed Evan to value him. Why had he not considered that before? “Another solid point.”
His gaze caught Evie’s, whose eyes twinkled with understanding. He gave her a quick nod of appreciation.
“Cousin Everett, thank you. I like your idea of walling the river in that section. What’s more…” He hesitated for just a moment. “I apologize for my outburst earlier.”
The man spluttered through an acceptance as his aunt made a gushing sound of appreciation behind him.
But it was Evie’s face that he watched, knowing full well that she’d done him a world of good today. Now, if only that fiction she’d told about his temper not upsetting her were true.
