“Welcome to the family, dear Jarvis!” the viscountess exclaimed and hurried to envelop them both in a hug.

Olivia was preparing for bed when a soft rap sounded on her bedchamber window. She frowned and padded toward the sound. She opened the window and in entered Jarvis, not in his Shadow attire, but in his regular aristocratic clothes.

“Finally, you learned how to close your windows,” Jarvis said as he walked farther into the room.

“It is getting chillier by the day.”

“Well, lucky for you, I am here to warm you.” Jarvis grinned and took her mouth in a scorching kiss, and Olivia quite forgot what she was about to say.

Her arms immediately weaved around his neck. Jarvis picked her up and tossed her on the bed. He took off his coat and climbed on top of her, kissing her mouth, her neck, and everywhere he could reach.

Olivia’s body heated, and she wanted more of his touch, more of him. But a tiny thought nagged at the back of her mind. “Jarvis,” she whispered. “Shouldn’t we wait for the wedding?”

Jarvis raised his head and looked into her eyes. “I did not come here for a quick release, my dear. Although that would be nice. But no, I shall not take advantage of you until we are good and married.”

Olivia frowned. She just wanted to pretend caution. In reality, her entire body buzzed at the idea of experiencing bliss in Jarvis’s arms.

“Then why did you come here?” she pouted.

“I missed you. I do not want to spend another night without you.” Jarvis caressed her cheek.

Olivia grinned. “Then perhaps it’s all right if we… do that.”

Jarvis shook his head and propped himself on one elbow. “When I left you here with the promise of marriage the last time, I… What if I’d died?”

Olivia put her palm against his cheek. “Do not even speak it.”

“But what if I did? And what if you were with child? I would have ruined your life forever.” Jarvis covered her hand with his.

“You could have never ruined my life. You only ever enriched it,” Olivia whispered and pulled his face toward hers.

She kissed him hungrily, licking, biting his lips, wanting more of him inside her. Wanting all of him.

Jarvis quickly shed his waistcoat and cravat and collapsed on top of her. Olivia chuckled and hugged him tightly. He kissed her deeply, while her hands traveled lower, feeling the muscles on his back, then lower still. She reached his bottom and squeezed it. It was beautifully shaped, firm, and muscled. She had an undeniable urge to bite him there. The thought made her giggle.

Jarvis raised his head. “You really like touching my bottom, don’t you?”

“I do not!” she exclaimed, affronted.

Jarvis nudged her with his nose. “Admit it. How long have you wanted to do it?”

“What?”

“I remember you touching me there in Kensington’s study.”

“Oh, shush!” Olivia pushed him, and he landed on his back.

He took her by her hips and made her straddle him. “Hm, those lessons in riding astride were not in vain.”

Olivia giggled, then lowered her head and kissed him. She weaved her fingers with his on either side of his head and feasted on his mouth, hungrily licking and devouring him.

Jarvis raised his hips and the contact of his hard, hot rod against her center made her moan.

“Damn it,” Jarvis growled. He took her by her waist and turned so that she lay on her back again. “Damn you, Olive,” he whispered. “We can’t do it. I don’t want to risk it again before we are married.”

Olivia whimpered in frustration. “But I want to.”

Jarvis ran a hand through his hair. “You impatient vixen,” he said and lowered himself down her body.
