But he was still weak, and to be honest, he could use a bit more sleep. His eyelids felt heavy.

“Sebastian.”

“Yes?” His eyes flew open.

Lavinia pressed a glass of water to his lips. “Drink.”

Sebastian took the glass and sipped slowly. “Does Victoria know what happened?”

Lavinia shook her head. “I do not know. I haven’t left your side. Dane—Kensington—told me what happened during the duel… But I haven’t seen Victoria.”

Sebastian grimaced. He hated that she still thought of Kensington by his Christian name. “How long was I sleeping?”

“Not long. Half an hour, perhaps? I think you need more rest.”

Sebastian nodded. His head was getting heavier and heavier with every second. “I think you’re right.”

“Sebastian. There are things I need to discuss with you.”

There was a dull ringing in his ears. “Can it wait? I feel like I need a bit of sleep.”

Lavinia nodded, but her face was troubled. “Of course.”

Sebastian tried to get comfortable on his pillow. “Do you mind lying with me for a moment?”

Lavinia looked around. “Sebastian—”

“Just for a moment, until I fall asleep.”

“Very well.” Lavinia nodded and climbed into bed with him, perching her head on the uninjured side of his chest.

Sebastian hugged her tightly to his body and inhaled the sweet scent of her hair. He would stay like this forever if he could. And hopefully, soon he would. Just as soon as he got out of this bed and married his little muse.
