“The surprising kind,” he mused and nodded his head for me to go see.

Shoeless, I walked to the back of the connecting car. And the moment I opened the door…I was speechless.

“I’ll give you a moment, ma’am,” Wolfgang said behind me before closing the door.

And I definitely needed that moment…because it was…beautiful.

All around me were hundreds of roses. However, they weren’t real roses; instead, they were made of silk, some sparkly, some regular, in the midst of candles. They covered the whole bedroom on both sides. There were so many you could barely even see the floor, and there was just a single path to get to the bed. But that wasn’t even the sweetest part. Hanging from the ceiling were letters. Brand new letters all addressed to me with all different dates. The closer I looked, the more I realized they were all dated up to the wedding. Some had sketches he had drawn of me; others were poems he’d addressed to me. Reaching up, I gently took one off the clip, and it was dated from months ago.

Dear Odette,

I heard you playing the piano today. By some magic, there was a break in your schedule, and you managed to find a moment alone. I wanted to join you so bad, but the smile on your face as you played freely, eyes closed and toes tapping…I was too captivated to come any closer. And you were so captivated by your playing that I don’t even think you realized you had begun to sing. Your voice always pierces right through me.

I made a promise to you that one day I’d figure out a way you could still be able to keep playing and singing as you wish. I haven’t forgotten it. Even still, I am thinking of it. I think you’d make a great ambassador of the Theater and the Arts as Queen. We can even do some sort of charity events? What do you think? Always tell me what you think, Odette. If not, I go crazy, trying to figure out your thoughts.

Love you,

GM

August 3

Odette,

From sunrise to sunset,

I daydream of your silhouette.

At nightfall,

I stand and ache for your request.

I beg for you to call out to me,

So I may come on to you.

Call out for me, beloved.

Bat an eye,

Brush your hand against my hand,

Open your door to the smallest degree.

My daydreams have made a beast of me.

Kiss me,

Hold me,

Save me.

I cannot survive night,

Until your arms and thighs are around me tight.
