Epilogue

Crispin was usually a cynical man, but Maggie made him want to quote poems and carry out silly traditions. Which led him to carry her over the threshold at their disposal. Maggie’s mother had secured them a suite of rooms at Mivart’s for a week to celebrate their wedding. Maggie’s laughter followed them inside.

“Crispin, put me down. Your ribs are still sore.”

“Shh, I must carry my wife over the threshold. ‘Tis a tradition.”

Maggie continued her badgering. “Well, we are over the threshold, husband, now set me down.”

Crispin’s answer was to toss her on the bed. Her skirts flew around her, making her giggle harder. She was incorrigible. Adorable. Sexy as hell. When she curled her finger at him, he went to her willingly. Along the way, he started stripping off his clothes. He had waited anxiously for this night, and he refused to waste another second to make love to Maggie.

Maggie’s laughter soon turned into a moan. Crispin’s antics warmed her heart, but the desire blazing from his eyes set her soul on fire. He had played the patient for a week under her mother’s maternal care; now he was a groom with a purpose. One Maggie wanted him to fulfill with haste. She was as impatient as Crispin for this night.

“Mrs. Dracott, I believe you wear too much clothing.”

“Mmm. Sorry, Mr. Dracott, my husband distracted me.”

He shook his head in disappointment, pulling at her legs. He drew her to the edge of the bed and tugged off her shoes, throwing them over his shoulders. Then he slipped her silken stockings off. A sinful smile lit his face.

“Now we are making progress.” His lips trailed a path of fire up her legs.

Maggie gasped at the intense pleasure. Surely she would combust from his exquisite kisses. However, she only turned into a puddle of wantonness. She spread her legs, inviting him to love her.

And love her he did. All night and into the next day. Each time was more magical than the last. The outside world waited for them. They still had many obstacles to overcome before they settled into their blissful life. Crispin needed to find his missing brother, and Maggie needed to help her sister heal a broken heart. And they had a villainess to capture. But for now, they only existed in a moment of time designated for themselves.

Tomorrow could wait. They only wished to live for today.
