“Nope, not happening, man.” Aiden pulls me in closer to his side, before he takes a swig of his drink.

“Oh, it’s happening all right. You don’t want to disappoint the masses, do you?” Dylan pulls Aiden towards the stage where the karaoke is setup, with me in tow. “Hey, Blaire, take a perch next to Liam. He’s saved you a front-row seat, you won’t want to miss this.”

Aiden takes my hand. “It’s okay, I’ll be right here all the time, okay? Liam won’t move from beside you. I promise, babe.” He winks, leaving me breathless that he somehow can see my worry of being alone. He bends down and whispers in my ear, “One song, Blaire. Then I’m completely yours to do with, however you choose.” With a peck to the cheek, he drops my hand and allows Dylan to drag him to the stage.

Liam turns to face me. “I’m a good guy, Blaire. You’re safe with me. Okay?”

I nod with a shy smile. “I’m just overwhelmed but honestly, I’m fine.”

Liam smiles at me and raises his drink into the air before he sways along to the beat as we listen to someone sing Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive.’

Liam shouts over the song, “If you love a classic karaoke song, you’re in for a treat. Dylan thought you’d love this song; in fact, I’ll be recording this for all the guys to see.” He shook his head, chuckling to himself.

I take a small sip of my drink and watch the two guys on stage. I guess Dylan just told Aiden what song he’s chosen for them to sing, as Aiden throws his head back and full-on laughs. The boys turn their backs to the audience and spin around as the song begins.

‘You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling.’

The words echo across the room, but Aiden’s eyes remain focused completely on me before they darken the further into the lyrics he gets. It’s like he’s trying to reach into my soul, to wrap my heart up in the warmth and comfort that he somehow knows I seek. A man that has bypassed everything he can see but seeks more. The thing is, the moment his velvet voice lets the words escape, I try to fight, to escape the restraints I have put around my heart.

Aiden keeps to his word and sings just the one song, even when the crowd shout for an encore. Aide jumps down from the stage and passes the microphone back across to Nate before he reaches out for my hand.

We decide to change our plans and spend the rest of the evening getting to know each other at the bar. It gave us the chance to talk, especially as we’re left alone for the night only with the occasional fresh drinks that appear from Kennedy. I first thought it’s all in my head but when I feel Aiden reach for my hand under the table and rub his fingers across my knuckles, the sensations knock me back to reality. He clears his throat before he asks, “Shall I walk you home?”

“I thought you would never ask,” I reply. My chest heaves faster than I thought possible as I lick my bottom lip. Aiden stands and places his hand at the small of my back, before he guides me around the stools and chairs.

“I’ve just got to sort out what I owe.” He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his wallet as he speaks.

“Pick up your tab in the morning, Aiden and I’ll want the downlow on this,” Kennedy says as she waggles her finger at us as she brushes past to grab the empties off the table. “Have a good night.”

“Thanks, Kennedy.” Aiden takes control and directs us outside without a second glance back. “Now, it’s just us.”

AIDEN

I’m sure every set of eyes will be on the pair of us the moment I guide her out of The Cannon, but no one takes a second glance at us. The gossip train will hopefully leave us alone for now. However, when I next see Liam and Dylan, I know I won’t be so lucky, and they will definitely have questions; lots of questions.

The fresh air hits us but it does nothing to calm the atmosphere. Instead, it draws her body to mine, making me ravenous. I fight the urge to remain in control but with Blaire’s sexy curves tucked into my side, it’s a battle I wonder if it would be so bad to lose.

I don’t want to seem like I’m pushing my luck with her, but every move I make, the glances, my fingers splayed along her side, are matched like she’s about to plead for me to finally stop and take my time to consume her. It’s like she wants me to take control and explore her boundaries, give her body the raw passion it screams out for. I don’t want to dismiss the edge of concern inside, but on the flip side, I don’t want to ruin this connection. One thing is for sure, I know my cock is fighting to give in to the desire to satisfy each other. I know that the logical thing to do is wait but my head doesn’t want to take up that memo when all I see is her reaction to me. I can’t help but notice the way she tilts her head and her gaze travels straight through me as if she sees something I don’t through her hooded eyes. Her intense focus blindsides me as she bites down on her bottom lip, but teases through her teeth while her chest rises and falls in fast succession. All I want to do is devour her, taste her and commit every part to my mind.

Being in the fire service, heat had never been an issue for me. I was born in the fire, but she makes me want to burn for her.

“Blaire…” I say with a growl as I grip her hip with my fingertips the moment The Cannon is out of focus, and we’ve turned the corner of Oak Street.

“Aiden,” she whimpers as I spin her around into my arms. I run my hands up her sides and gaze deeply into her eyes.

I can feel the pulse in my veins throb wildly. My chest rises and falls rapidly as my fingers reach up to tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

“I’ve got you.” I lean forward and pull her closer to me. Her breasts, encased in her loose flowy blouse, cause much needed friction against my cotton shirt.

I want more. I want Blaire.

I place a light kiss gently on her lips to gauge her reaction. Her soft pink lips taste like heaven, with a mix of citrus and earthy hops from the beer, with the undertones of fresh mint. She presses her mouth harder into mine. Desperate and wanting more, it’s like she can read my mind. My mouth molds against hers as my tongue pushes against the seam of her lips and begs for more of her intoxicating taste. Her hands wrap around the base of my neck and she pulls me deeper, closer.

“Blaire.” I pull back slightly, pressing my forehead against hers, while I try to get my breathing under control. “I… I…”

“Aiden,” Blaire speaks in a sultry tone, “do you want to come upstairs? It isn’t much yet, I’ve not…”
