“Are you ready?” he asked me.

“Yeah.” I grabbed his hand, and we quickly departed the bar. “So, did you decide yet?”

“Decide what?” he asked me as we stepped out into the city air.

“Your place or mine.” I grinned at him as I began to lead him up the block in the direction of my apartment.

“I don’t care,” he replied.

“Well, yours is closer.” We quickly fell into sync and after a quick walk to his, he was sliding the key into the lock and walking us inside.

“Do you fancy a drink?” he asked me as he led us into the kitchen.

“Sure.” I took a seat at the worktop and began removing my coat, placing it on the chair next to me. “Whatever you’re having.”

He took his coat off and placed it on the worktop before he grabbed us two bottles of beer from the bridge and, after uncapping them, slid one across the worktop to me. Taking a swig, I eyed him across the bar.

Fuck, he was handsome. I didn’t call a lot of men handsome, but he was. It wasn’t just his looks that had me tied up in knots, though. There was just something about Freddie that had dug its way beneath my skin and I couldn’t put my finger on it.

“What is it?” He smiled at me. “You’re staring at me like I’m about to burst into flames.”

“Nothing.” I shook my head at him. “Just thinking.”

“It’s funny,” he muttered.

“What is?” I asked him before taking another swig of my drink.

“Well, I ran out on you this morning, freaked out that I had fucked up my one chance with you by screwing you on a drunken night and now…” He paused, his eyes flicking briefly up to mine. “Now it looks like you’re hiding from me.” He gestured to the worktop between us.

He stared at me for a moment before he placed the bottle down. Walking around the worktop to me, I was happy enough to turn to face him.

He stepped in between my legs and placed his hands around my shoulders.

“What is it about you Freddie?” I stroked my fingers through the sides of his hair. “What is it about this city boy that has my head completely screwed up?”

“My ruggedly good looks?” he teased. We stared at each other for a moment before he spoke again. “Kiss me, Luke.”

I stared at him for a moment, hesitating. “I’m not a one-night guy, Freddie.”

“I know.” He slid his hand up the back of my neck and threaded his fingers into my hair. At the same time, he tilted his head down and pulled my face up to his.

I was a goner the second he pulled my lips to his. I had kissed many, many people, but kissing Freddie was like breathing. It felt like the most natural thing to be with him.

He sucked my bottom lip into his mouth and as he stepped closer to me, I could feel the warmth radiating from him. I was doing my best to keep this from heading in the direction I think we both wanted it to go, but as my hand dipped to the bottom of his back, I knew that my one night with Freddie would be the best. He would be the guy I knew I would be measuring everyone else against.

I licked against the seam of his lips, wanting his taste in my mouth. He quickly parted his lips and thrust his tongue against mine. I moaned as his peppermint taste invaded my mouth and I knew I would be drunk off Freddie for a long time. I’d only have him for a short time, but I knew he’d leave his mark on me for a lot longer than that.

I pulled back, needing some air, but before I could put some distance between us in an attempt to try and slow this down, his lips latched onto my neck where he began to kiss, lick and suck against my pulse point.

“You’re killing me,” I groaned.

He chuckled against my neck before he reached down between us and took my hand in his.

“Want to go somewhere comfier?” His eyes blazed at me, burning me in their depths.

Fuck, that was fast. I opened my mouth to say that no way was I having him in his bed tonight when I’d only have one fucking night with him, but he carried on talking.

“I’m not saying the bedroom,” he continued. “Just somewhere that isn’t a kitchen stool.” We both chuckled at that.
