Ever felt like time had stopped? Well, that’s what the rest of the day had felt like and when the clock finally hit six pm, I began to freak out. I had an hour to get ready. That’s it. I had to get home, find a fabulous outfit that wouldn’t get me denied entry tonight and turn myself into a woman with style, rather than somebody who didn’t have a clue about the best colors to pair together. Fake it until you know, right? Or in my case, I used Chrissie’s fabulous knowledge, rather than doing the assigned work myself and planned the perfect outfit.

I raced through the door to my apartment and didn’t even stop by the fridge to grab a chilled glass of wine. I couldn’t be late. If I was ready in time, I could devour it then.

I opened the closet door and began flicking each hanger out of the way until I found what I was searching for: my long, red dress with the tags still attached. I’d not worn it anywhere yet but with such a sophisticated venue we were heading to and the fact that everyone else would be dressed up just as glamorous, it was the perfect choice. I had purchased it based on Chrissie saying it was the perfect dress for my figure. With its cowled neck and being completely backless, it showed off my best features, especially with the side split that finished at my thigh. A bit of skin hurt nobody.

With ten minutes to spare, I gave myself a final glance over in the mirror and smiled at the loose curls I’d somehow perfected. I had applied minimalistic make-up. I wanted the dress to shine, not the accessories.

Perfect. Time to go.

The moment I walked straight past the bouncers atThree Little Wordsand into the bar, my eyes glistened as I took in the beauty of the place. It really was spectacular with its real-life waterfall feature behind the bar and the low lighting that highlighted the modern color palette. I loved it. The grays and whites with the odd shimmer bouncing back had me lost for words. No wonder it was calledThree Little Words. It was the perfect lover’s abode.

It was still early and as I glanced around the lively bar, I couldn’t spot any of the guys. A discrete cough sounded behind me and a hand came down on my bare shoulder. It was enough to make me melt because I’d know that touch anywhere. The sensation that traveled through my body; it was him. He was here.

I turned around and gasped, lost in the magnificent man in front of me; the crisp black shirt and pants held up with a belt with a thick silver buckle that kept catching the light. How I wanted to undo it. Touch it.

“Wh-where is everyone?” I stumbled over the words, too lost in the image of perfection that was stood in front of me. “I…”

Christopher’s index finger covered my lips. I watched his green eyes darken and his other hand reached for my waist. He pulled me towards him, closing the distance between us. My breath hitched as my brain tried to catch up as he slowly moved his finger from my lip and rubbed down my cheek.

“You look absolutely beautiful, Isobel,” Christopher complimented. His tone was all thick and it had a raspiness to it that turned me on like crazy.

I was about to say thank you and return the gesture but I didn’t have time to before he spoke again.

“I want to kiss you,” he whispered. “I’ve wanted to kiss you for a long time.”

I didn’t have time to give him permission. He slowly lowered his head and pressed his lips to mine. The warm sensation of his lips robbed me of my breath. I wrapped my arms around his neck and made sure he knew I was totally on board with this as I matched his movements, gently caressing his mouth and becoming lost in the sensations he’d unleashed. His kiss was slow and sensual while I traced the outline of his mouth.

I don’t know who was the first to pull away but as I gazed up into his eyes, I realized something had changed between us. I let go of him and took in a huge breath.

What the hell had just happened?

CHRISTOPHER

“You look like you want to run,” I whispered. I reached up and rubbed my thumb over her cheekbone. “Have I freaked you out?”

“No,” she whispered. She stared at me for a moment before she cleared her throat, taking a step away from me. “You didn’t need to kiss me. If it was some way to thank me for getting you the interview with Del…”

“It wasn’t.” I quickly stepped toward her and slipped my arm around her waist. I pressed my hand against the bottom of her back and positioned her petite body closer to mine. “I mean, yes, I am grateful.” I reached down with my other hand and took her palm in mine. “But kissing you…” I gazed into her eyes, falling deeper into her pools. “I’ve wanted to do that since I saw you at the airport.” I paused when a negative thought entered my mind. “I understand that I could be wrong for you but…”

I tensed when she moved our clasped hands closer to her body. She rested them against her thigh, right where the slit of her dress exposed her creamy legs.

“Does that feel wrong to you?” she asked. She whispered the words but the tone she used was sexy as fuck. It was a‘come fuck me’tone that messed with my head.

I swallowed harshly, a little lost for words on what to say in response.

She giggled at my dumbfounded response and I tightened my fingers around hers as I pulled her toward the bar. There were a couple of empty chairs at the bar and before I could look around for a more comfortable table, she placed both her hands on my shoulders and used my height to help lift herself into the high stool chair. As she scooted her fine ass back into the padded seat, my eyes shot down to her legs as her skirt rode up a little, exposing more of her creamy skin to my eyes.

“You’re making me blush, soldier boy,” she teased. She crossed her legs and I knew that those legs would be starring in my fantasy, preferably wrapped around me as I lost myself in her body.

I cleared my throat. “Sorry.” I waved the barman over and ordered our drinks; a red wine for her and a pint of cider for myself. I lifted myself into the chair opposite her and tried my hardest to ignore the shiver that went through me as my leg rubbed against hers.

“So,” she started. “What, uh… what brought this on?”

“What?” I asked. I paused when the barman brought our drinks over and after paying him, I turned my attention back to her.

“This.” She stared at me and I was desperate to know what she was thinking. “Being here. You know… Me. You. Us.” She ended it with a dainty shrug of her shoulders. I quickly realized that I was seeing her flustered for probably the first time.
