I went to open my mouth, but then I realized something. She was here, but she wasn't.

Her eyes were wide open, her pupils blown up, but she was staring straight ahead, at the wall to the right of me, like she was watching a movie.

There was no sign that she even knew I was in the room.

Was she…sleepwalking?

I tried to remember if I’d ever heard about her sleepwalking while she was growing up. Something nudged my brain, but I couldn't quite grasp it.

"Delilah," I whispered, not wanting to startle her.

Fuck. I really needed to stop calling her that.

I’d been right about what her breathing had sounded like. Whatever she was seeing right now terrified her. Her breath was coming out in gasps, and she was biting her bottom lip so hard that she broke the skin, and I watched as a drop of blood dribbled down her chin.

She actually looked kind of scary. Kind of like a sexy scary…serial killer.

How fitting.

She took a hesitant step forward, and then another. And then she paused again, like she was listening for something. She took a few more hesitant steps and then paused. All of a sudden, she raised the knife in the air, took a deep breath, and then lunged forward. Not to the wall.

But right at me.

I dove out of the way of the knife, and her knife lodged into my mattress. She yanked it forward, cutting into the mattress in a downwards line.

Okay. This was getting weird. "Aurora," I barked.

But she still showed no sign of hearing me.

She crept around the bed, her gaze intent on mine but still blank, and then she lunged. This time, I was a little too slow, mostly because of the nightstand directly behind me. She managed to catch my arm in a long slice. I growled and stumbled backward, the lamp on my nightstand crashing to the ground.

But still, she kept on.

"How could you?" she screamed abruptly, but it wasn't her low, sexy voice. It was more high-pitched, more childlike. Whatever she was dreaming, she was years younger in it.

"You monster," she whimpered, as she swung the knife. I dove on the ground, because sleepwalking or not, the girl had a wicked arm.

Darting across the room, I yelled her name, trying to plot how I was going to stop this.

She ran at me, swinging so hard that she lost her balance, and I tried to grab her, but her stupid fucking ninja skills were out in full force, and she elbowed me in the stomach. I also narrowly missed a kick to the balls, which would've been painful, and likely life-threatening under the current circumstances.

Aurora was coming at me slowly now, her face scrunched up in concentration. "I'm going to kill you. Make sure that you're never able to do anything like this again."

She stalked me like I was prey, until my legs hit my mattress behind me, because of course I’d backed away from the door.

Forgive me if I wasn't thinking clearly first thing in the morning with a raging psychopath trying to attempt murder while sleepwalking.

"Aurora," I roared.

Still, she showed no signs of hearing me. Aurora sprung forward and I fell backward, the knife literally stabbing the air right where I’d been. She would've stabbed me in the fucking heart.

Which was actually kind of fitting considering what she’d done in real life.

I shuffled backward on the bed as she started to climb on it, somehow still managing to look graceful, while she held on to the butcher knife like a maniac.

After this, I was either going to have nightmares or wet dreams. Possibly a combination.

If anyone could manage to bring that out in a guy, it was her.
