"There's a party tonight," Jenna told me as soon as I saw her in the cafeteria.

"Yeah, and?" I asked her absentmindedly as I looked over the deal of the day. Hamburgers. Not bad. The grill actually made a good one here.

"Well, I think we should go," she said hesitantly.

I winced before she even finished the sentence and turned to look at her. It was crazy to me to think about what life had been like when I thought I'd been looking forward to a normal college experience. Bits and pieces of that party…and Cain splashed through my mind, and I had to grit my teeth at the imagery.

"Who's throwing the party? I highly doubt that anyone on this campus is going to let me in."

“Oh, I feel like they’ll all be creaming their pants to get you through the door of any party, because they’ll think that the kings will make an appearance.”

“Hmm, they must be missing the reality of the situation.”

“Did I not see you looking very well-fucked at Paxton’s fight?” she teased.

I tensed, biting my lip as I thought about all the other times she didn’t know about. Like the tunnels. I still wasn’t sure how I felt about that, even if just thinking about it turned me on.

“One hit wonder,” I responded, trying to ignore how wet my panties were all of a sudden.

“This frat makes this special drink, and they have this game they play there. It’s like ping pong but they rip off the handles of the paddles.”

“That sounds the opposite of a good time,” I told her with a lifted eyebrow as I finally got to the grill where I could place my order.

“Please. It’s my birthday,” she pleaded as she put her food on her tray.

Guilt flooded my insides. “It’s your birthday?”

“Well. In like a month. But who knows what those guys will do to you between then and now, so I need to cash in my party time with you before things escalate too much.”

I snickered and rolled my eyes. Little did she know how much it had already escalated.

“I’m not drinking,” I told her. “I can’t afford for them to catch me off guard.”

She nodded eagerly, obviously sensing she had me right where she wanted me.

“I won’t drink either,” she promised.

“You don’t have to do that.”

“Well, I’m pretty sure that I need to be ready to step in if something happens. Keep your head on a swivel and all that.”

I laughed, shaking my head. Jenna got funnier every time we hung out. I’m not sure where she got her information about evil, but it seemed a whole lot better than the evil I’d come across.

“Well, just make sure to bring your duct tape,” I teased.

And she nodded, a serious expression on her face like she was making up a list in her head right that very minute of everything she was going to need for the party.

I grabbed my food before following her to a table in the blissfullykingfree room.

“So…what are you going to wear?” asked Jenna.

I sighed and shook my head, nervous anticipation building up inside of me. I’d have to find something to cover the teeth marks on my neck. I could only imagine the rumors that would spread around campus if people saw them.

Not that any of the rumors could come close to matching the craziness of the truth of how I’d gotten them.
