“No. But the ocean air makes me sleepy,” I said truthfully.
“Sweet dreams, then, and I’ll see you tonight,” she said, then started down the hallway singing to herself.
She sure was a happy employee, but a bit too pushy. Not that I was going to try to avoid her, but I might peek to see who was at the door before opening it from now on.
My stomach rumbled, and I wondered what happened to the lunch I ordered. They’d promised delivery in half an hour, but it had been a lot longer than that. I could easily call and complain, but then I wouldn’t take the chance of eating the food after that. Not that I’d ever done anything nasty to a person’s food, but I remember a waitress who had gotten yelled at by a customer. She dropped his burger on the floor, gave it a kick and then put it back on the plate. It took me years to be able to eat out again after seeing that.
Looks like I’m leaving my room a lot sooner than I thought.
I could tell myself it was just that I was hungry, but I knew I wanted to feel the warm sunshine and the ocean breeze on my face. I didn’t want to deal with people, but fresh air would do me good. There must be some secluded areas on this ship. I just needed to find them.
Too bad I don’t have that book to read. It would’ve really helped me kill some time.
