“I can’t even think of food after this breakfast. Make it dinner, my treat, and you have a deal,” he said.

Dinner meant night, and that brought out a different feel in Tabiq. I would need to have my security team escort us. There was one place I knew we could go and not have to worry.

“Dinner on the beach at New Hope sounds perfect. What do you think?” I asked.

Finn smiled. “While you’re at work this morning, I’ll make the arrangements. And the way we are eating, I suggest we take that walk on the beach tonight, too.”

“Sounds good. Now I’d better eat because I still need to get to the office,” I said.

“Would you like me to drive you?” he asked.

I hadn’t even thought about how Finn had gotten to my house this morning. “How is it that you convinced Bennett to let you drive around the island unescorted? Usually guests at New Hope are not permitted to leave the resort alone.”

“I have Logan’s vehicle and I still haven’t made it to the resort.”

“Where did you sleep last night?” I asked.

“At the hospital in one of the empty beds,” he said.

“Why? You have an entire suite reserved for you. I’m sure that bed is much more comfortable.”

“I’m used to long hours at the hospital. I’ve pulled many naps on a cot, so this wasn’t so bad. I told Logan I was coming to see you and asked to use his car today. He had no issue with it.”

Even more shocking.

“How about I drive myself to work, and I’ll meet you back here at one?”

“You don’t want me to bring you?” he asked.

“It’s not that. I enjoy driving.” It was a freedom I didn’t want to give up. I could listen to what I wanted, go where I wanted. Driving made it seem, even if for a short time, like I was just Reesa instead of President Florraz.

“Okay, I’ll be here at one. And this time around, I’ll be right on time,” he joked.

I laughed. “Hopefully I will be, too.”

I wish I didn’t need to leave. Being with him is so…nice.

Here I was, wishing again. Just like last night, my wish wasn’t coming true.
