So much for being fearless.

I was about to take the journey of a lifetime, and there was one person I wished could keep me company.

Liam, I wish we could fix this with just a phone call. But fate has determined you and I are not meant to be.

I knew what I had to do: look toward the future and let go of the past. Even though it was something I never wanted to forget. Couldn’t, even if I tried.

As the jet took off, I gripped the armrest and held on for dear life. It was the first time I’ve been on a plane. My stomach lurched and my ears popped. I wasn’t a fan of this feeling. But as it leveled off, it got better.

My phone buzzed and I pulled it out of my pocket, angry at myself for forgetting to turn it off. But when I saw who it was from, I couldn’t help but read it.

ENJOY THE FLIGHT.

How did Liam know I was on the plane? I know I didn’t tell him, because I haven’t responded to him at all.

Maybe just this once.

THANK YOU.

My fingers trembled as I hit send. I waited, expecting he’d start blowing up my phone with constant messages, but he didn’t.

Probably better that way, because I’m not supposed to be using it.

I leaned back in my seat and wondered what else did Dr. O’Connor tell Liam about my trip?

It really didn’t matter. We were still in two different countries. A text is not like actually being with the person.

I wouldn’t be able to stop myself if you were with me. I’d be lost. And I wouldn’t be complaining.
