“I told you, I don’t cook.”

“Milk, cereal, toast and jam. All very easy,” I reminded him.

“So is calling down for food. Which you seemed to have managed doing nicely. Thank you by the way for taking care of that. I should’ve placed an order last night so you didn’t have to.”

“I wanted to buy you breakfast to thank you for last night,” I said.

“I have to admit, our chemistry is undeniable,” he winked.

I snickered. “I was talking about blowing glass. That was such a unique experience. I really hope we do it again.”

“I hope that’s not the only thing you enjoyed,” he teased.

I smiled. “I think you know better than that.”

He leaned over the table and kissed me lightly. “I do.” We sat eating and he asked, “What are your plans for the weekend?”

Was he asking me to do something? It would be so much easier if he just came out and asked. Saying I was doing nothing made me sound boring, but sounding too busy meant I had no time for him. Damn it. Why does this have to be so hard?

I picked up my cell phone and checked my calendar. I already knew the answer, but Samantha said a woman shouldn’t look too available, even if she was. The first thing I saw on my screen was the email receipt. Holy shit. One-hundred-five dollars for breakfast! I didn’t regret picking up the tab for breakfast, but that’s half my food bill for the week at my house. Next time I’m just going to order the grocery’s and cook it myself.

Getting past my shock I put my phone back down on the table. “No work,” I said, taking the middle ground. “And nothing that can’t be put off if I want to.”

“Your schedule is difficult to follow.”

“I know. Sometimes I think about getting a regular 9-to-5 job. But this offers me the flexibility I enjoy, and it pays better, too.” I must have sounded ridiculous talking about this job like it’s a career. Someday I wouldn’t be able to pull the long hours standing in line in all types of weather. But I was thirty-three and wanted to do it while I could. “How about you? What are you doing this weekend?”

“I had planned to work today. It’s usually what I do.”

“Saturday? Sunday?”

“I’m a seven-days-a-week person.”

Well, now I don’t sound so boring. “Maybe I should go so you can get to work.”

“Or maybe we could take a drive?” he suggested.

“You’re not going to work?” I asked, surprised.

“Did you want me to?” he asked. I shook my head. “It’s supposed to be a beautiful day and I thought we could take that scenic trip you suggested last night.”

Phillip never seemed to forget anything I said - he always listened when I talked. We had so much more than just an amazing physical relationship. And if I’m not careful, you’re going to make me fall in love with you.

“I’d like that. Have you ever been to the mansions in Newport?” I wouldn’t be surprised if he told me he owned one of them.

“No, I haven’t. Is that what you want to do? I mean, to claim for your second win,” he chuckled.

I had forgotten all about that bet. Was that really what I wanted to do? It sounded amazing, but listening to others talk on a tour wasn’t going to be interactive. How was I going to top the date he planned for us yesterday?

“Not today, but maybe some other time.”

“Then what would you like to do?” he asked.

Stay in bed with you all day.I loved being in his arms, but once again, we didn’t do a lot of talking there. “I know, but I just don’t know how to schedule it.”

“What is it? I’ll see if I can help.”

“I’ve always wanted to take a hot air balloon ride,” I said, unable to hide my excitement. Phillip’s eyes widened, and I added, “Unless you’d rather do something else.”
