Joyelle said, “We were all just heading back to the campsite. Why don’t you come back with us?”
“Me?” PJ asked, glancing at me uncertainly.
“Unless you guys have something else planned,” Shanda added.
“I was hoping to do a little shopping,” PJ said.
Lizzy’s eyes widened and said, “We love shopping. Why don’t we all go?”
I shot Lizzy a warning look, but it was too late. My date had been highjacked.
“Are you sure?” PJ asked. They all nodded their excitement. She turned to me and said, “Do you mind?”
Fuck yes, I mind.I had hoped to get alone time and instead I got a swarm of women swoop down and steal my date.
Forcing a smile I said, “Of course not. Maybe we can catch up later.”
PJ nodded.
Lizzy whispered something to Joyelle, who quickly said, “Why don’t you go back to the camp, Clark? We’ll take PJ back with us when we’re done shopping.”
I could come up with a million reasons why this wasn’t a good idea. But if I ever wanted to see PJ again, I couldn’t voice any of them.
“PJ, is that what you want to do?” Please say no.
“That sounds like fun. I guess I’ll see you later, Clark,” PJ said with a smile, as they headed towards the shops.
Damn. We should’ve played mini-golf. A hit to the balls would be better than what I’d have to face after these ladies got through with me.
