“How about breakfast at eight?” he asked.

“I already told Lizzy I wasn’t going to be there,” I reminded him.

“I was talking about just you and me.”

That sounds wonderful.

Nodding, I said, “I know a great diner that opens really early. They have the best homemade banana walnut French toast. Are you interested?”

He lifted my hand to his lips and said, “Definitely.”

From the way he was looking at me, I wasn’t sure he was talking about the French toast. A shiver ran through me and I wished he would pull me into his arms and kiss me. Instead, he let my hand drop to my lap, and put the Jeep in drive.

Damn.

I really wasn’t looking forward to another night alone in that hotel. Maybe tomorrow would be different.

There was so much I didn’t know about Clark, but at least now I knew he was single. A very good place to start.

Wouldn’t have minded a kiss goodnight either, but I have a feeling that if he did, we wouldn’t have stopped with just one. If how my body reacted to just the touch of his fingers was an indication to the chemistry between us, there was going to be enough heat to spark a raging fire.

This really is going to be a long, lonely night now.
