“Thanks,”I say as Wyatt sets the last of my bags down in my room.

"No problem. I'm going to go start dinner. Let me know if you need anything," he says with an easy-going smile. God, could he at least have crooked teeth or something? No, of course not. They are perfect, just like the rest of him.

“I’ll be out to help you in a few minutes,” I manage to respond. “I just want to freshen up a bit.”

He nods and I watch him go down the hallway before I close the door and take in my new room. His house is big, with a ton of bedrooms, and yet he chose to put me in the room right next to his. I know this because he made it a point to tell me that he’s right next door.

I’m sure it’s just so that I’ll feel safe knowing he’s close by, but I can’t help wondering if he mentioned it for another reason. I can’t deny that I’m attracted to the cowboy. How could I not be? He’s so rugged and charming. Those blue eyes of his keep pulling me in, making me want things I’ve never even considered before. Like how his stubbly beard would feel against my smooth skin.

I shake thoughts of my sexy new roommate from my head as I move over to my suitcase. It doesn’t take me long to unpack and put everything away in the dresser and closet. I didn’t bring much with me since I knew I would be spending my days on the ranch.

My room is sparsely furnished, just a dresser and bed, but I don’t mind. I’ve never liked a ton of clutter around and besides, I won’t be spending that much time in the room anyway.

I wonder what his room looks like.

I stare at the wall that separates our rooms like I can see through it. I bet it’s the same as this room. Even his living room just had the necessities.

Heading into the attached bathroom, I set some of my toiletries down on the counter. The bathroom is on the smaller side, with just a shower, toilet, and sink. I sigh when I see that there’s no tub. I’ve always found a hot bath to be calming. Sometimes it’s the only thing that soothes me after I’ve had a panic attack.

“Everything alright?” Wyatt asks from behind me. I jump, letting out a little squeal and banging my arm on the wall as I spin around to face him.

“Sorry,” he says with a sheepish grin as he grabs my arm and checks my elbow. His touch is so delicate, barely there, yet driving me insane with the need for more.

“It’s fine. I didn’t hit it hard,” I murmur. I hope he thinks that I sound breathless because of being scared and not because my heart flips in my chest every time he smiles at me.

“I came to get you for dinner. I tried to knock,” he says, dropping his hand from my arm.

“Sorry, I didn’t hear you.”

“I know the bathroom is a little small in this one,” he says, seemingly reading my mind.

"That's okay. I was more upset that there's no tub."

"My bathroom has one. You can use it whenever you want."

The thought of me being naked in his room has my body warming and tingles racing down my spine. He’s just being nice, I tell myself. He’s not flirting. There’s no way this handsome Roman god of a man would be interested in me.

“Thanks, I might take you up on that.”

Wyatt simply nods, not giving any emotion away. I slide past him, our bodies just barely touching, as I head back into the bedroom.

“I need to go grocery shopping so dinner is a little basic,” he says as I follow him into the kitchen.

My stomach growls at the smell and I giggle as he grins at me.

“It smells good,” I compliment him. He smiles wider, and god, are those dimples? This. Freaking. Man.

“Thanks, I learned how to cook from my mom. She was the best at it.”

"Do your parents live here too?"

"No, they retired and moved closer to my mom's sister in Arizona," he answers with a smile. "They get into all kinds of trouble over there, but they're happy."

I love that he genuinely loves his parents. I haven't exactly had a normal upbringing, so having some sense of normalcy feels nice. Not that it matters. It's not like I'm going to marry this man and meet his parents one day.
