I leaned closer to kiss him, my own way of thanking him for the pleasure. "Catch your breath. They won't kick you out of the room until morning."

He caught my arm. "What did you mean about the most devoted?" And he jerked his chin toward my hips.

I paused as the two guardians moved to the table, each one grabbing a cloth to dip in the water. "It's the symbol of being god-touched. My partner isn't the only one." Then I glanced over. "Grab my pants, would you, big guy?"

"Yup," Wraythe said. He bent, snagged one leg, but didn't stop. "For your dick," he said, pressing the cloth into my hand. Then he straightened my pants and lay them on the bed. "For your ass."

Osas just laughed. "Your guardian isn't attracted to men?"

"He's my best friend," I told him. "My partner calls him my soulmate, and I think she's got a point."

Wraythe just held out his hand for the dirty cloth. "Cuddling, or need the rest of your clothes?"

I glanced over at the other guardian. "My clothes. I think someone else needs those cuddles." Then I looked back to Osas. "That ring is not attached to his heart. Never forget that."

The moment I was out of the bed, the guardian took my place, sitting beside his ward to carefully clean him up. He didn't say a thing. He also didn't have to, yet I had a feeling that Osas was now looking at him in a whole new way.

The moment Wraythe and I were in the hall, he dropped his hand on my shoulder. "That wasn't at all how I expected that to go, Ela."

"I know." And I let out a heavy sigh. "I wanted to break him so bad, but I decided it made more sense to teach him. Hopefully, the lesson will stay."

"And you?" he asked. "How are youreallydoing?"

"I don't know yet, Wraythe." I dropped my head to watch the tiles pass beneath my feet. "I know I'm good at this. I also know that it's nothing like being with us."

"Nor should it be," he pointed out. "Pretty big difference between your dick and your heart, Ela." He walked on a couple of steps. "So, after we get back and prove you're all in one piece, what do you think about crashing at my place? Maybe talk about some shit, pretend like it's no big deal, and act like we'll figure it all out?"

"Sounds like a plan," I agreed. "A pretty good one, actually."

And one more reason why I loved this guy.

Chapter 31

Wraythe

Igot Ela to talk that night. He didn't say much, but I had a feeling it helped. His problem wasn't fucking the guy. It had more to do with the shift of power that had happened. I'd seen it on his face when he'd pushed for dominance, ready to destroy the man before him, only to change his mind somewhere in the middle. Then, he'd given Osas something back. Something Ela had always kept in reserve for the people he cared about: kindness.

For Eladehl, kindness and caring was a vulnerability. It was a weakness that would eat him from the inside out. He'd always beenverycareful about who he trusted, and once that trust was given, he didn't take it back easily. Granted, that was the only reason I was still willing to talk to Anver - because Eladehl was.

So when I walked into our strength training class and saw the bruise on the side of Anver's face, I made my way over. The mark wasn't too dark, but it was visible enough to notice across the room. Without thinking, I grabbed his jaw and tilted his face toward the light. Even more shocking was that he let me.

"Bad session?" I asked, knowing Tishlie was in that Eroticism class as well. "Hope you broke the idiot who did that."

"Shedid that," Anver almost growled.

"You deserve it?" I asked, thinking about how Nari should've hit him a few times.

He pulled his chin from my hands. "Depends on who you ask. Tish says I should've bribed the other guardian to give her an excellent. I'm not sure how I would've done it, andthatwasn't a good answer. She said if I couldn't get her better grades, then I clearly wasn't very good at my job."

"Yeah..." I pulled in a deep breath, choosing my words carefully. "Aren't you glad you protected her against her bully?"

"Lay off, Wraythe." The voice came from one of the few people who wouldn't get his head bitten off for that: Talin.

Nari's guardian moved to stand beside me, placing himself just in front of my shoulder so that I couldn't get closer without him being in the way. Not that I had any intention of shoving Anver around, but I still noticed how easily Talin had contained me. Letting out a single chuckle, I made it clear I wasn't looking to pick a fight.

"I'm just stating the facts," I assured him.

"He is," Anver agreed. "I was an idiot, and now it's biting me in the ass." He paused to look at both of us. "How'd it go for Eladehl and Nari?"
