“I’ll sleep on the floor,” I say.

“No, you won’t. I’ll sleep on the floor, you’re an old man, you might get back problems.”

“Well, you’re still a growing child, so you should sleep on the bed.”

“I don’t know why this is such a big problem, you two just sleep on the bed. I’ll sleep on the floor without a problem.” I sigh in frustration at Xavier’s words.

Suddenly, a knock sounds at the door, and I go to open it. Seeing one of Elektra’s workers with three bags in hand containing all our stuff.

I told them to bring us some things from our hotel. I nod a thank you at her while closing the door. Dropping them on the bed, they both rush for their sleepwear and toothbrushes and run into the bathroom.

All I can think about is that one of my worst nightmares is coming true.

Miss Castillo and I will have to sleep in the same bed. Our stubbornness finally bit us in the ass for the first time since we met each other.

ChapterSixteen

Maria Alejandra

Iwake up to warmth, a peculiar warmth at that.

I slowly open my eyes and take in my surroundings. Realizing that we’re still in the mansion, all the memories come flooding back to me. I look up and see all the antique art surrounding us. I can’t help but smile. The intricate detail embellishes the walls around us as well as the super eclectic decor.

Us.

Looking over to my side, I see something that I never thought I would see in my lifetime, nor did I ever want to experience. Mr. Donatello is cuddling up at my side. I shriek and then silence it with my hand, attempting not to wake him up. Questioning my existence, I lay motionless, eyes open, staring at the ceiling. I feel like a dead body and, with all things considered, my pride is deceased at this very moment.

What the fuck do I do?

Looking up in front of me, I see a smiling Xavier.Asshole.

I slowly get up, not wanting to wake the man right next to me. I quickly hop off the bed and run into the bathroom.

Looking in the mirror, I take in my appearance, trying to breathe in and out. Xavier walks up behind me, popping grapes in his mouth. The fruit basket that welcomed us on the tiny table invaded by his hunger.

His smile, as always, takes up his whole face, and his arms are crossed.

“What did I miss, rookie?”

“Absolutely nothing.”

“He was definitely feeling you up. That’s something I’ll keep engraved in my brain for the rest of my life. The beginning of a beautiful love story.” He sighs dreamily, mocking me. Turning around, I give him a nudge, and he laughs at my poor attempt at pushing him backwards.

Standing up taller, I point my finger in his face. “We will never speak of this again.” He throws up in hands with defeat.

“Comprende,” he says just before Mr. Donatello walks in.

“What are we not speaking of?” he asks. His black shirt and gray sweatpants on with his bed head clearly intact.

“Nothing. It’s a secret,” Xavier says in a hushed voice.

Mr. Donatello gives us a raised eyebrow, letting the topic rest. Reaching over for his toothbrush, he pushes me aside while applying toothpaste to the brush.

I walk out of the bathroom and fall onto the bed with my arms out, letting the fabric and mattress consume me. I try convincing myself he did it unconsciously. But why did it feel good to be engulfed in his strong arms? I felt like I was in a vice grip but with biceps, and I kind of liked it.No. No. No. I did not like it. It was a mere coincidence, and I shouldn’t even be thinking about it.

But you still liked it.

I hit my head a few times trying to get the thought out of my brain. Standing up, I gather what was picked out of my suitcase.
