I glanced down at her. “No.”

“Good.” She chewed on her bottom lip. “Because I am.”

I couldn’t help but smirk, and I didn’t bother trying to hide it. She’d wanted to hurt Olivia and had almost cost me my life. “I don’t regret what I said in the dungeon,” I said simply, then headed to the table to eat.

Her face reddened as she leaned in, blonde waves spilling around her face. “Astor can’t know.”

I spotted a mortal woman I hadn’t seen before. Her piercing amber eyes sparkled, unlike the others.

“Sebastian!” Gwen scolded, and I rolled my eyes.

“Why would I care if he knows or not?” I’d only let her do it because I thought I was going to die. So hurting her was a bonus when I told her I was just using her for her mouth. It was a low blow, even I had to admit that.

“You wouldn’t want me telling Olivia, would you?”

My shoulders tensed, anger roiling in my chest. Olivia and I weren’t together. We were faking our engagement until recently anyway, and I had no commitment to her. I shouldn’t care if she found out, and yet…

I shrugged away the feeling, clenching my jaw. “Tell her. I don’t care.”

“We both know that’s a lie,” she hissed in my ear.

I turned my attention back to the mortal woman. Someone else had gotten to her first. I watched him slurp against her throat, draining her blood. Clenching my jaw, I turned my focus back to Gwen. “I’m not going to say shit. I don’t care about either of you enough.”

“You didn’t always feel that way. We had a connection once.”

I grabbed her wrist, pulling her close. “You destroyed any fragment of friendship or attraction we shared the moment you tried to hurt….” I paused. “Me.”

“You mean Olivia.” She tore her arm from my grip, scowling. “You act as if we were never a thing.”

“What we had was only ever physical.”

Hurt flashed through her blue eyes, and for a second, a twinge of regret ached in my chest until I was reminded of what she’d done. Gwen was the first to help me when her mom made me into a vampire. She wasn’t the kindest person, but she was good to me for a time. She taught me what it was like to have fun as an immortal and ignore the guilt that came with what I was. We’d shared in threesomes at court, drank from the same people, getting caught up in the moment.

“Go.” I softened my tone a slither, only for our memories. “Like I said, I won’t say anything.”

“You’ve changed.” Gwen stood. “You care more now. It’s unattractive.”

I peered around her, spotting Astor and Velda walking in. Gwen pushed her hair over one shoulder, waving at them. She’d never committed herself to anyone before, and I couldn’t help but wonder why Astor meant so much to her. He was a coward, a man who’d use his friends to shield his own death.

“Then why did you suck my dick?” I asked, tilting my head.

She shook her head, then strode away.

Tugging on the sleeves of my newly tailored suit, I gazed at the woman who’d intrigued me from the start. Finally, the man feasting on her neck paused. Enough was enough.

“She’s mine now,” I stated, clearing my throat as he wiped his mouth. I recognized the lord, Jerimiah.

“I’m still feeding.”

Challenge shone through my eyes as I waited, unmoving. I didn’t care about treading carefully around the nobles anymore. I would soon be a prince anyway, and my freedom would be gone. Taking what I wanted had never been so easy, especially when I had nothing to lose. “I said, she’s mine now.”

He looked from me over to where Sargon, Ravena, and Kalon stood and talked, then let the woman drop onto me. “Of course, Your Highness,” he spat.

I caught her head in my hand, watching Jerimiah stand, then hurry away, a low growl reverberating behind closed lips.

The ecstasy of our venom was already deep in her veins. Those amber eyes rolled to the back of her head, her lips parting as a word breathed through. “More.”

I wiped away the blood trickling down, then brought my lips to the other side of her neck where he hadn’t bitten. My fangs pierced into her delicate skin, gushing blood through my teeth and coating my tongue. She shuddered against me, her fingers gripping my arms as I gulped her blood, clinging onto her as the frenzy took over.
