“What about Avery?”

“They wouldn’t let me see him tonight.”

“Why not?”

“The omegas are in heat.”

There was near silence on the other side, but he was almost sure he heard muffled cursing on the other end. “Where are you?”

“The office. I was in no shape to drive all the way home.”

“Sounds like you weren’t in any shape to drive there. You should’ve called me.”

Wilder grinned. “Here I am. Calling you.”

“I’m on my way. I’ll see you as soon as I can.”

“Okay,” Wilder said before laying his head back on the couch. The next time he opened his eyes, Rohan was standing above him. “Hey… that was fast,” he slurred.

“No,you were passed out,” Rohan said, reaching for Wilder’s hand. “What’s this?”

“I punched the window when they wouldn’t let me see him,” Wilder mumbled.

“Youwhat?”Rohan flicked on the light nearby and took a better look. “Did you break it? Is there glass in here?”

“No, it was too thick… but it cracked on the second punch.” Pride radiated through him. The look of fear on the officer’s eyes made him chuckle.

“Fuck, Wilder.” Rohan eyed him. “You’re lucky they didn’t arrest you.”

“They tased me.”

Rohan’s eyes widened.“They what?”

“Took two tasers to get the job done,” Wilder said, pride in his voice. “I wasn’t backing down. I needed to see him.” Wilder felt a sob rise. “Man… they forced him into a room with another alpha. Maybe more than one.”

“Don’t think about it,” Rohan said, grabbing both sides of Wilder’s face. “Don’t torture yourself with that.”

“He’s being tortured right now. Forced to be with some stranger.” Wilder felt the bile rise again. He rose and stumbled toward the bathroom, making it just in time to lose all the whiskey he’d imbibed. When he was done, Rohan handed him a warm, wet washcloth.

“I think we need to get you to the hospital.”

“No… I just want to go home.”I wanna be withhim.

“We need that hand looked at… you might’ve broken something. Or more.” Rohan leaned against the sink. “And gods know what those tasers might’ve done. You need to be checked out.”

“Home. I want to be in our bed. I want to smell him there.” Wilder grimaced. He’d refused to change the sheets, even as much as he should. “I can still smell him on the pillow he used. It’s like he’s there with me.”

When Rohan eyed him with pity, he felt disgusted with him. “Forget it. I’ll just stay here.” He lay back on the couch.

Or attempted to. Rohan dragged him back up, and the world spun.

“I promise to take you home…afterthe emergency room,” Rohan said, offering Wilder a hand up.

“Fine, fine,” Wilder lamented.

Rohan tucked a hand under Wilder’s shoulder. “Come on, big boy. Let’s get you to the ER.”
