Yuck. Gag. Ew.

A “hump me now” sign would’ve come off less desperate.

“Well, unfortunately for you, I’m not interested,” Ryder said briskly. I gaped at him. His sudden change in behavior was surprising, to put it mildly.

Shannon seemed just as stunned, if not slightly pissed. Without another word, she spun on her heel and hurried in the direction of the kitchen.

I guess we weren’t going to get seated after all.

Huffing with indignation, I put my hands on my hips.

“What the hell was that about? You are a horrible flirt.”

Ryder shrugged, a beautiful grin touching his gorgeous face.

“She only dates football players.” Tilting his head towards mine, so his breath caressed my cheek, he murmured, “I’m a musician.”

“You’re also an ungrateful swine. I totally could’ve gotten you laid. Never ask me to be your wingman again!”

He straightened. “I never asked you the first time,” he pointed out. That stupid grin still graced his face.

“It was a gift! You…you…ass!” I sputtered in mock outrage, but inside I was having fun. Talking to these boys, joking with them, helped me forget everything else transpiring daily in my miserable excuse of a life. So sue me, but I actually liked the cocky bastard. He kept me entertained.

“Now come on, Casanova,” Asher said. “I’m hungry and the others are probably getting impatient.”

Ryder muttered under his breath yet again (I wondered if he even realized he was doing it or if he was like me) before he obediently followed Asher.

“Ha,” I whispered, swindling up beside him. “So whipped.” He shoved at my shoulder, and I shoved back. He, of course, only shoved me harder.

“Seriously? You can’t go around hitting girls.” Asher sounded moderately horrified. Ryder gave a small shrug.

“She started it.”

Something Asher said previously struck me like a bolt of lightning all of a sudden. I froze mid-step, barely registering when Ryder ran into my back.

“Wait. Others? There’s more of you?” I wanted to add that two hot boys were enough but didn’t want to risk inflating Ryder’s already immense ego.

“Yeah,” Asher said absently, leading us to a large booth in the back. “We’re here on a school trip.”

“What type of school takes a field trip to a resort?” I questioned, bemused.

“Ours, obviously,” Ryder huffed. I was tempted to stick my tongue out at him. Instead of physical sarcasm, I settled for verbal.

“Okay, smartass, because obviously it’s completely normal for an entire school to travel to the devil’s balls for a field trip.”

“Devil’s balls?” Asher raised an eyebrow.

“Stop talking about my man parts!” Ryder huffed, and I couldn’t help but chuckle. Dammit, Ryder was growing on me.

Conversation ended, though, when we reached the table in the corner. I gasped at the familiar face staring back at me.

“Ronan?”

“Princess?”

Asher rubbed his chin; Ryder looked annoyed.

“Do you two know each other?” he asked, eyes swinging from mine to Ronan’s.
