Declan made a familiar gesture that I recognized instantly.

“I love you.”

Tears welled in my eyes.

“All of you?” I asked, barely able to believe it.

“Of course,” Tam said, cheeks flaming. He met my eyes, looked down, and immediately began counting the cracks on the table.

A part of me wanted to believe them - the part of me that had been denied love for years. Another part of me realized how irrational it was to think that these perfect men would ever feel anything for me besides friendship.

My brain was going haywire as the fantasy took hold.

I wanted to feel loved. I wanted to feel loved and love another in return.

Or others. I didn’t think I was physically capable of only loving one person. My heart was eager, and it latched onto every available person like an annoying parasite.

Fallon’s face suddenly darkened, a cloud moving in front of the sun.

“Why are you acting like such a whore?” he snapped.

I blinked, stunned by his sudden outburst.

“What?” I whispered.

“Seriously, are you trying to lead us all on?” Ronan sneered. And then he added, in a voice that held more contempt than kindness, “Princess.”

“She’s a bitch,” Declan signed dismissively. He turned towards the others. “We should just ignore her.”

“I can’t believe I kissed that whorish mouth.” Calax gave me a look akin to disgust. “How many others had she kissed with it?”

“A lot, apparently,” Asher said. My kind boy sounded furious. “You all heard the rumors about Adelaide. A new man every night.”

The tears, once brought out by happiness but now by a smothering depression, cascaded down my cheeks. I brushed them away, ashamed by my weakness.

“You know I didn’t have a choice,” I said. “They didn’t take no for an answer.”

Tam abruptly stood from his seat, eyes blistering as they met mine.

“You must’ve done something wrong. What were you wearing?”

“Huh?”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. The tears were falling faster now, a physical representation of my heartache. My self-hatred.

“I would just end it if I were you,” said Fallon.

“End it,” echoed Calax. My love. My rock.

My enemy.

“She’s too much of a pussy,” Ryder said.

A razor blade materialized in front of me. I glanced up from the keen weapon towards the boys who had quickly became my entire world. Their stares were unrelenting as they met my eyes.

Fallon, the stoic leader, nodded towards the blade.

“Use it.”
