My temper flared momentarily. How could they allow this man near her? Sure, he had saved her life, but it was only because he was under duress. A gunshot to the head was ample motivation.

The man next to Doc was also familiar, though I couldn’t recall his name.

It was the man Ronan and Ryder had kidnapped from the rest area. After he’dtied them up.And now they were all making friendship bracelets?

What the fuck was happening?

“Don’t kill me,” Doc warned, meeting Fallon’s eyes first before staring at each one of us in turn. When they settled on me, he raised a brow as if daring me to fight him. I scowled but consented with a nod of my head. I wouldn’t kill him, though the idea was tempting…

That mentality changed when he slapped Addie. Hard.

Her head whipped to the side, brown hair flying, and a red mark in the shape of his hand remained on her cheek. Fallon growled, and Ronan and Declan lunged for him. Asher went as far as to cock back his gun, a malicious glint in his eyes as if he was savoring this moment.

Doc refused to cower beneath the combined stares penetrating a hole in his back. Instead, he backed up with a knowing grin.

“What…? Huh…? Where’s my pizza?” Addie murmured groggily. She abruptly sat straight up, nearly falling out of Fallon’s arms, as alertness flooded her. “Calax!”

“Shhh...Baby...it’s okay. You’re okay. You’re here, and we’re all okay.” I gripped her small, trembling hands in my own, and her glossy eyes met mine.

“You’re no longer a Rager,” she whispered, removing her hands from mine so she could stroke my face with the tips of her fingers. It felt like brush strokes - she was the artist, and I was her canvas.

“What the fuck are you talking about?” Fallon interrupted, and Addie squealed, staring up at him.

“Sarge?” she whispered, seconds before he plundered her lips.

“Hey, Princess,” Ronan said softly, and she broke the kiss with Fallon to tip her face towards his. Ronan kissed her with a softness and reverence that was almost painful to look at. It felt like I was intruding on their private moment, and I wanted to both continue watching and look away.

“Sweetheart,” Asher whispered, and he took her from Fallon’s arms. His face had softened, melted, the cold man nowhere in sight. “How are you feeling? Do you need anything?”

Declan moved so he was in her line of vision and signed something. Finally, Ididlook away, allowing my brothers to have a semi-private moment with our girl. I heard her ask about Ryder and Tam, voice a screech, and Asher reassure her they were alive and well outside of the compound. She asked about Nik and Tommy next, and my heart elevated at the knowledge the two were okay. That they were able to rescue her brother.

Turning towards Fallon, I gave him and Ronan a brief synopsis of all that had occurred. The men saving me and then torturing me. The questions about Addie. Her arrival. Her blood.

Their faces were abnormally pale after I finished the five minute speech.

“So her blood has a cure?” Doc asked, his voice sounding way too fucking interested. I glared at him before handing the clipboard to Ronan, ignoring the doctor’s inquisitive eyes.

“This is all the information from her last appointment. Maybe from earlier. I don’t know exactly what it is, but I thought it might be useful. Protect it.”

Ronan nodded, no hint of teasing on the joker’s normally jovial face.

Doc peered over Ronan’s shoulders, scanning the information with heightened intensity. I wished I could speak nerd or doctor. To me, it appeared to be an onslaught of random numbers, symbols, and notes that made zero sense.

“We need to get out of here,” the steely voice came from Addie, moving to stand in between Fallon and me. One hand gripped his while the other grabbed mine. Asher moved behind her, resting his hands on her shoulders.

“Agreed,” Ronan said. “And then, Princess, I’m going to spank your ass for allowing me to believe you were dead.” This last statement was accompanied by a flirty wink, but I could still feel the pain behind his words. The terror that had only just been alleviated. I couldn’t imagine what they had been through when they thought she was dead.

“Yes please,” Addie breathed, and Ronan’s eyes flared with banked heat. He might not have been as open about it as Tamson, but I knew he sometimes enjoyed rougher sex. The amount of stories I heard from him before he met Addie and settled down was mind-boggling. Like, how could you tie up both hands and feet to the same hook on the ceiling?

Declan signed, “Enough,” before reaching for Addie’s hand and pulling her away from us. Fallon and I exchanged an expressive look, a look that made words unnecessary, before flanking Declan and Addie on either side. Asher took point, and Ronan brought up the rear. Doc and Kai trailed behind us, deep in conversation.

I didn’t trust them one bit, but at the same time, I didn’t know them. A lot could change in three months. Loyalties, for one, though mine had always been and always will be with my family.

If my team trusted these men, then I’d put my hostility aside...at least until we emerged from the compound victorious.

Asher fired off a rapid round of bullets at a barrage of Ragers racing towards us. Each one hit expertly in their foreheads, and they dropped dead. Addie made a strange sound in the back of her throat - half a gasp and half a sob. I knew she was imagining me as one of the Ragers.Mybody hitting the floor in a puddle of black blood.Myeyes rolling into the back of my head.

Lucian had messed her up. Deeply. His sick, twisted games had changed something in her mind, something that might take years to heal.
