Chapter 6

Addie

Iwoke up surrounded by two sexy, warm bodies.

Peeling open my crusted eyelids, I turned sideways on the bed and stared first at Fallon’s sleeping face. His golden brown hair was out of its customary pony, cascading in loose curls around his face. His lashes, twigs of ebony, rested on his tanned cheeks.

Peaceful. That was the only word I could think of. In sleep, he looked serene, the harsh planes of his face softening exponentially.

His hair was longer than it had been when I’d last seen him, but the skin on his face was smooth.

Unlike Declan’s.

I turned towards the second male, breathing in his pine scent. Like Fallon, his hair was longer. Light scruff covered his arresting jawline, and I yearned to rub my fingers over it.

What had happened during those months apart?

As if he could feel my eyes on him, Declan’s lashes fluttered, and I was suddenly greeted by eyes as familiar to me as my own. They were the eyes of my childhood best friend, Ducky, and effectively ensnared me. Held me hostage.

Hand trembling, Declan curved his palm around my jawline, and I twisted my head to kiss the tender skin.

For a moment, we only stared at each other. The rest of the world fell away.

Him and me.

Me and him.

Us against the world.

Shifting slightly on the bed, I held my hands up so I could sign.

“You're here,” I both said and signed. “You’re really here.”

Declan, helplessly, pressed a kiss to my shoulder.

“Nik?” I continued when he glanced back up at me. His hands reluctantly left my skin so he could reply, movements rapid.

“He’s fine. Promise. He’s spending the night in Tommy’s room.”

It made my heart happy, ecstatic, to know that the two of them were getting along. I loved them both.

“He’s a good kid,” Declan signed, eyes warming as he spoke of my brother.

“The best,” I agreed. My body moved closer to his, the tips of my breasts brushing his chest. He inhaled sharply.

For a moment, I felt a brief stab of insecurity. Doubt. Did he miss me like I missed him? I supposed what I was really worried about was whether or not he felt the same way for me as I did him. I didn’t know if I would survive if he rejected me. Did that make me greedy?

“Did you miss me?” I whispered vulnerably.

Our noses were touching, and his eyes flickered from my lips to my eyes and then back to my lips. I was no longer able to sign, my hands pressed between our two bodies. Still, I knew he read my lips.

For a moment, there was only silence.

And then he crushed my lips to his.

It was a gentle kiss, our lips moving together with a tantalizing softness. It was a kiss that spoke thousands of words. And, when I opened my eyes, it was to see him staring at me with love and need. Desire. Lust.

Any and all fears diminished as quickly as they came.
