“I can’t believe they let us do this,” I said, pulling her in so that I could wrap my arms around her.

“With the six of us, how could they not?” she asked. “Nothing can stop us if we’re together.”

I shook my head, a laugh rumbling up. “My grandparents would have loved you,” I couldn’t help but say.

She chuckled against my chest, pressing another kiss to the hollow of my throat. “I think I would have loved them too, if only because they raised you into one of the men I could never live without.”

I held her close for a moment more, wanting to extend the feeling of her in my arms. Even if I knew I could do this whenever I wanted—even though she was my wife—I would never tire of the sensation of holding her.

Letting her go was like letting go of a piece of my heart. After watching that piece nearly be destroyed by a money hungry idiot with a grudge a year ago—watching her struggle to get back to who she had been and fight to overcome the doctors telling her she’d never have kids—I wanted to give her everything. Even when I wanted to lock her away, I knew she needed freedom. She needed a choice.

And to give her that, I needed to overcome my fears. I needed to see the world as she saw it because I didn’t want her for a moment in time. I wanted her forever and always.

The End.
