Chapter 13
Adrenaline coursed through me, along with that delicious craving to cover myself in blood. I stretched my back, feeling as if I’d slept for years, and every part of me tingled. For too long, Bee had followed the rules and kept me under tight restraint. Fuck, I’d almost forgotten what I really was—a goddamn witch who took my magic from the real masters of power. This bullshit of working with the goddess left me weak, gutless, and it was an insult. But no problem. I’d make up for lost time. No more sitting on the side bench, watching, and never taking part. This was my turn toshine.
I stood in the cage. Four princes stared my way, dazed and shaking themselves. All twisted, part-bear and part-human. Damn, someone had done a number on these poorsuckers.
“Hello,boys!”
Leven crouched near me, sniffing the air. When I stretched an arm out to pat him, he snarled and snapped at the air between us. I snatched my handback.
“That wasn’t very nice now, was it?” Power surged in my palms like a charge. An inky black bolt of energy shot out from my hand, striking him in the chest. “Now behave and do as Isay.”
Leven whined and flinched, crumpling onto his side, trembling, and his body shifted into human form. Now, a naked man lay in front ofme.
Hell and spank me twice, I was in a candy store. A whole different kind of enjoyment played in mymind.
But it was curious how he’d switched to his human side when Bee’s attempts with her white hocus pocus hadfailed.
Leven dragged himself to his feet. “Bee! What did you do tome?”
“Darlin’, there’s no one here by that name. Call me ‘Lilita.’ So much sexier, don’t youthink?”
His upper lip peeled upward. “What the fuck?” His hands curled into balls as he surgedforward.
“Stop,” I bellowed, my arm raised, palm facinghim.
And he did, his eyes widening as he remained in his frozen state. “What’s goingon?”
Damn, his mouth still worked. “You must be hard of hearing, boy. I told you who I am. But I guess our little friend Bee never explained she has two sides to her, like all bloodborne witches. The weak, fluffy light side she dabbles in, and the tremendously sexy and powerful darker side only I can control. And now it’s my turn to come out and enjoy yourcompany.”
The other three outside the cagegrowled.
With a flick of my fingers in their direction, I struck them all at once with shards of energy sparking from my fingers. Tendrils of power punched into their chests, driving them backward. Each gasped for air, hitting the wall, and Talin even roared. Cute. They all transformed back into their humanforms.
My knees wobbled beneath me, and I staggered as lethargy weakened me. Okay, it’d been a while and I forgot how quickly I got drained when I used magic. Didn’t help that deep in my mind, Bee shrieked for release.Not happening, babygirl.
The princes faced me, three of them still wearing their pants, and I sighed.No problem. We’ll change that soonenough.
I stepped out of the cage. “Interesting.” I tapped my chin, facing the four men.I wonder if their change is a temporary or permanent thing.“Okay, a night of debauchery can wait. But first, some ground rules.” I counted them on my fingers. “No trying to kill me behind my back. I die and your precious Bee does too. We are two halves of a whole, so no trying to get her back…I'm here to stay. Second, you do everything I say.” I laughed. “And lastly, no leaving me for another woman. That would really tear me up, and I don’t want to murder any of you. Gotit?”
“Are you fucking insane?” Raze’s lips warped, his shoulders stiffening. “I don’t give a shit if you’re the devil’s favorite lap dog, this arrangement will not work. We are the princes of White Peak. Kneel and beg for your life,” heroared.
With a huff, I strode toward him. “Raze. Raze. This is your final warning and only because of Bee. She adores you—well, she has a thing for all of you, and I don’t blame her.” I stared at the incredible muscular specimens surrounding me. “If only you could be inside here.” I tapped the side of my head. “The things she wants you to do to her. That girl puts me to shame. She’s hot for all four ofyou.”
Ash pushed forward, as did Talin, and I chuckled. They were predictable and I needed achallenge.
Raze’s fist flew toward myface.
I snapped my palm up. “All four, stop.” And that earlier exhaustion rolled through me. I stumbled. “Whoa.” I remembered their obvious desires and amorous expressions when they’d looked at Bee, but now they just stared at me withdisdain.
No one responded. There were only murmurs on their throat, as they were unable to budge from theirspots.
“Now that’s better than listening to your yabbering. So this is the new plan of action. I’ll get changed out of this plain outfit. I mean, we’re in a castle and Bee is wearing pants. Wake up to yourself, girl. Anyway”—I turned to the men—“then we’re going for a long walk. Been thinking if I can switch off your hex with such ease, imagine what I could do to Rek and all the other royalfamilies?”
I glanced at the men still standing there. “Oh, right.” I waved at them, and the magic flowed down my arm and threaded out to each of them. “Well, come on. Move. We have White Peak to takeover.”
By the time I reached the bedroom with a closet full of clothes, I made haste to find something more appropriate to wear. I whirled around in a golden gown cinching at the waist, admiring myself in front of a long mirror, my auburn locks spinning with me. My hair kept frizzing, and I patted it down. Bee’s hair never did that, the bitch. Long sleeves and a low-cut V-dress showed off my assets. And why the hell not? When you had them, you flauntedthem.
I turned to find all the shifters sitting on the four-poster bed glaring my way. They reminded me of a box of candies, each one different but delicious. “Come on. You can’t tell me this doesn’t turn youon.”
