My mouth dried. Lilita was a huge thorn in our sides, and not something I’d ever imagine in a million years would have added to our dilemmas. But Talin had a point. How in the world was I meant to tame four shifters if we all battled inner demons? With Ash, the moment I’d kissed him, the urges had tampered slightly, so would that be enough to help us remained in control? I wasn’t sure how I felt about potentially taking turns to sex up each man. Individually and in the right moment, hell yeah. I ought to feel weird with them being brothers, but I didn’t. To me, they were individual and I that was how I sawthem.

“It’s not going to work with all four of us,” I said. “I can’t control all of us.” Even though I recalled how easily Lilita had zapped all of them at once, and they’d transformed into their human forms. Then again, jolting them with energy was a different set of rules compared to getting hot and heavy withthem.

“Then just you and me go with Bee,” Raze said, staring atTalin.

“Why you?” Ash asked, his hand tightening around mywaist.

Raze flexed his biceps and grinned. “Who’s the best fighter amongus?”

Leven shook his head and kept eating. “Talin has a point. And it might be good to have Raze go in there, as Rek is terrified of him. But I suggest Ash and I join you for most the trip. It’s a good half day journey by carriage, and we can ensure you face no problems along the way. Then, Ash and I will hang back in the woods in case you needus.”

“And if we transform?” Ashasked.

“The curse instinct will have you rushing back home,” Talin said. “That’s how it was for me each time we tried to approach the court in the past.” He stared around the table at everyone who’d fallen silent. “So we have an agreementthen?”

A shiver curled down my spine as the goddess sent her warning. It seemed everything I did warranted that response from her. But I didn’t see anotheroption.

Ash rubbed my lower back, reminding me that I adored how at ease he made mefeel.

I sat there, overwhelmed by all the emotions, the plans, and yet so much still depended on chance. “All right. Let’s pray we don’t shift beforehand and most importantly, we get in and out of manor before nightfalls.”

Everything hinged on this working. Their kingdom and all our lives. And it felt as if we had nooses dangling over ourheads.
