I patted the ground beside me. To be honest, the idea of lying so close to them both, them fighting over me, it left me feeling drunk. But then that scared side of me freaked out—tensing, quivering at the idea of being sandwiched between them. Trapped, unable to escape, and at the mercy of Shadow if my magic failed and he turned wild. The thought had my heart slamming against my sternum, and my throat clogged. But I pushed it away. There were bigger things than my fear to dwell on, like preventing Shadow’s health from deteriorating. Whether I felt comfortable between them or not had to be shelved in the recess of my mind. Otherwise, I’d descend into the depths of hell within it.

Phantom accepted the invitation and reclined beside me.

Something sparked between the three of us… something I couldn’t explain. Something brand new, thrilling, and unnerving as hell, and that frightened little animal inside me couldn’t turn away from it.

Phantom’s hand slipped behind my back, dragging me forward so a gap existed between Shadow and me.

“Kinky, sweetheart,” Flare called out from across the cave. “What about me?”

Was he flirting with me? Or teasing me? I couldn’t tell.

“In your dreams,” I replied, picking up a stick from above my head and throwing it in his direction. It clattered on the rocky floor near his feet. Damn it, I’d missed.

“What sweet dreams they’ll be,” he said, rolling over, exposing his naked ass to me.

My gaze lingered a little too long for my liking, considering how much he annoyed me.

“Even if I freeze to death,” Flare added.

Holy hell.Hewasflirting. For once, he’d stolen the words right from me.

On top of that, three sexy panthers wanted to lie with me…Sea God…If those sexy, fervent eyes of Flare’s stared at me with forbidden intentions, I still wouldn’t turn him away if he approached. I pictured myself tangled between them in a state of undress, and my temperature swelled.

Uncontrollable longings took a hold of me. Phantom’s overprotectiveness left me giddy. Shadow’s stability and resolution to his family made me swoon. As much as I hated to admit it, Flare’s flirtations started a tingling down below. For the first time in a long while, I felt like the luckiest girl in Haven. Lying there beside Shadow and Phantom, with the fire exploding inside of me, I could barely catch my breath. No doubt, I wasn’t going to get a lick of sleep.

Shadow’s hand crept around my waist, pulling me tighter to him, and I drowned in his minty scent. His hardness jammed against my cheeks. The pace of his breaths picked up as they brushed against my neck.

My pulse stormed into action.

Phantom pressed my hand to his chest, his heart beating out of control, his eyes wide with desire.

Flipping hell.I’d never wanted them more than I did right then. My nether regions begged for them to run their fingers through my hair, to pull me closer, for our lips to meet. Disappointment sank through me like wet sand when they both behaved themselves. Nerves eventually got the better of me, and uneasiness tumbled inside me. Their proximity overwhelmed my senses, and I felt the symptoms starting, the rush of blood in my ears.

Phantom dug a finger into my wrist as if he sensed my decline. All I could do to hold on from falling back into the dark precipice was stare into his earthy eyes and focus on the stroke of his finger.

Sometime in the night,I fell asleep. Blame it on the exhaustion, on Shadow’s rhythmic breathing, or on the tender sweep of Phantom’s finger. Either way, I awoke with a start, discovering Shadow’s arm over my waist, and my right hand on Phantom’s shoulder.

I lifted my head to find the fire had gone out. All that remained were glowing coals. Cold streamed into the cave from outside, and I shivered, goose bumps springing up along my arms. Tritonia never got as freezing as the mountains, where the cold crept into my bones.

Damn it.I needed to light the fire again and keep Shadow warm.

I inched away, out of the shifter sandwich, and crawled over to the fire to add more branches. Slowly, the wood caught, the eager flames dancing along it. I loved the sound of the crackling fire. Memories flooded me of sitting in front of the fire with my father and Rumi, relaxing after a long day on the farm, reading books, sipping tea, throwing back a hard-earned ale.

“Can’t sleep?”

Flare’s voice startled me, and I almost leaped into the fire.

“Sea God, Flare. Don’t frighten me like that.” I pressed a hand to my chest, glaring at him.

He stood near the exit, looking over his shoulder, an arm leaned against the cave wall.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

“I can’t sleep, either.” His gaze returned to something outside the cave.

I stiffened. Did he sense something? Another hunter?
